Oh nice, hopefully this has bumped up the price a little! Edit: sounds like the same deal ☹️What! Tom Brady's got deep enough pockets FFS! I thought they gazumped Hudds by paying closer to what we asked for!?

Jesus this is nuts!! Pardon the pun but that is a bolt from the blue. Brum looking to offload Jutkiewicz so I would insit he is part of the deal or just do a straight swop with Bielik!
Nobody I know has said a word about Birmingham to me. Been Huddersfield all along so that must have happened very late.

Not the 1.2m we’d heard about unless there are hidden extras.

Htafc fan coming in peace again🤣
Does anyone know who is in pole position to land May?
Brum obviously will have more money, however we have Duff and him living close(Doncaster was it?)

That price sounds fairly underwhelming if accurate

Presumably we wanted a quick sale to move “early” for our targets

Charlton's No 1 Fans Group MA... ... X Keith Franklin • 31 m • Right as some of you know my nephew is mates with Alfie, the reason he wants to leave is he hates the manager and the manager don't have too much time for Alfie. Alfie wants to play as centre forward and Jones wants him to play out wide. Charlton want 1 million. Huddersfield have agreed 7k a week wages which is 2k more then he gets at Charlton. He has loved his time at Charlton but can't see any future there. The Birmingham offer is nearer Charlton's asking price as they would have to pay Cheltenham 20% of any sell on fee. His partner comes from Doncaster so a move back north makes sense. If the boss don't like you it's unlikely you'll get anywhere. We should have offered him a new 2 year contract at the end of last season. All our other forwards couldn't get 20 goals between them. Let's hope Jones's has someone better in mind because goals is what we've been lacking for years.

Most of that ties in with what I have said for starters especially the fee we want. This chap starts off by saying Alfie wanst to leave because he hates the manager. A few lines further down he states 'If the boss don't like you it's unlikely you'll get anywhere'. Now which one is it? We all know nthey don't get on so all this is what we already know really. The biggest laugh of all is the very top line......Charlton's No 1 Fans Group MA!!! Now that is funny!

I’m not questioning this but if my nephew shared something about one of his friends with me I would never put it on social media, and if my Uncle shared something like this, that I told him, I’d be furious.

Good post. I wish may all the best. With two clubs in for him he will get better wages and we might get a better price for him.so good luck alfie. Just pray Nathan Jones has two decent strikers line up to come in and soon as sure we go away soon for training camp.

Well I wasn’t going to comment but a) as others have b) I have now seen it posted on Facebook I wonder if anyone could offer a little clarity. I am grateful for the very pithy information on the May family mindset though I am personally rather more mindful of invading anyones privacy and most particularly a family’s. The content suggests a set of unwelcome scenarios gathered by one party prompting a conclusion by the author. The unwelcome scenarios 1.The player hates the manager 2. The manager has no time for the player 3. If the manager doesn’t like you etc., 4. Doesn’t see a future at Charlton 5. The player wants to play Centre Forward 6. The manager wants to play him out wide 7. We are offered a range of unflattering financially confidential data 8. A few comments on personal matters Yet against all of the above the authors’ conclusion is we should have offered May a new 2yr contract. Sorry I have been watching too much of the Post Office Inquiry; 1. How does offering a new 2yr contract make all of the above go away? Is the author suggesting none of it matters if Alfie’s paid a bit more? 2. Call me old fashioned but I regarded the opportunity to wear the shirt for any club as a privilege no matter where I was asked to play. It’s a team thing. 3. Especially if I am getting paid ………under a contract I signed 4. I can’t recall Jones ever setting up the team in any formation other than a variation of 3-5-2 5. Transfermarkt seems to confirm this recollection offering formations of 3-5-2 and 3-4-1-2 6. Transfermarkt positions May as predominately operating in the 2 with one game at No 10 and one substituting for Bakinson 7. My recollection of operating in the 2 requires them to lead the line, make runs in behind, offer targets, drop short to play others in behind, attack the penalty area not forgetting of course stretching the play by using the width of the pitch and playing between the lines 8. I do note May is indeed recorded as playing 7 times as a RW where he scored 6 times ………under Appleton - did he hate him too? I confess I am very uncomfortable discussing numbers because a) I don’t believe them b) they are invariably confidential - whether verbal, by text, by email, by contract they are governed by an employment contract which specifies all such data …….belongs to the club c) The club of course cannot confirm or deny any of it because, how strange, it too is governed by the same confidentiality. The focus on such numbers is unfortunate. I have/ had much respect for Mays contribution to the club. Is this really just about the money …..again? Should we give Mr Duff a call? Still maybe the nephew got a little bit confused, eh?

Too many people online are comparing apples to oranges, they're saying we'll be losing 20+ goals that we have to replace, and while we will absolutely need to ensure we have the right amount of goals spread through the team, it goes deeper than that.
At some of our worst points under Appleton last year, whenever our shoddy defence cleared a ball up the pitch, it came straight back at them. This meant that in the last 20 mins of games when we were trying to protect a lead or a draw, there was no respite for our midfield or defence because it was a constant onslaught (also potentially why we threw away so many late points - part mental fortitude but largely due to the barrage of attacks). Alfie has absolutely zero aerial ability or hold-up play in his game, he knows where the net is and can support a high press with his energy but that's it.
Having a technical target man like Ahadme, Etete or Leaburn, not only will we almost certainly see 10+ goals each (over a 46 game season), but you will also see the kind of hold-up play that brings your #10 and both wing-backs into the game much more. The thought of Ramsay and Small whipping aerial deliveries into 6ft5 Etete brings a whole new dynamic - not only with goals but being able to keep the ball at the other end of the pitch.
Aside from this, not once last year did we ever look like we were going to score from a cross or a corner - whilst at the same time looking vulnerable in defence for every cross or corner. Having one of the above back to defend against set-pieces will almost certainly win or protect our draws against points that we lost out on multiple times this year.
I would love to keep Alfie as another option and think he has a great character but if you're to believe the family stuff, as well as using the funds to reinvest across the squad, it's a no brainer for me - if he can facilitate the above, he simply has to go.
