A sell-on clause is a contract provision that gives the selling club a percentage of the future transfer fee if the buying club sells the player to a third club. The clause is often combined with the transfer fee provision, which splits the consideration from the new club into two parts: a fixed amount paid when the player is transferred, and a variable amount paid to the selling club if the player is sold again. In some cases, teams may offer another player as part of a swap deal to lower the transfer fee. However, it's not clear from FIFA or CAS jurisprudence how player exchanges should be treated in relation to sell-on clauses. For example, if payments are required, it's unclear how to determine an economic value for the player exchange to calculate any payments. |

Rumours on CL that Marko Marosi is right this moment playing in goal (as a triallist) for our Under 21s who are 0-0 at half time away to Barnsley who have had a player sent off.
Free agent Marosi was pretty much ever present for Shrewsbury in L1 over the past three seasons. Shrews fans say he was on high wages which is why, whilst linked with Rotherham and Barnsley over the window, he's still without a club.
Seems a step down from the goalies we've been trying to sign (Ruddy, Davies, Walton, Sinisalo, Begovic, Hein, etc) but I guess we're now looking for someone to compete with (the thus far solid) Mannion rather than be an outright first choice.
EDIT: I was typing this whilst Reams posted re the U21 keeper triallist.
ANOTHER EDIT: We scored four goals in the first 15 mins of the second half and are currently coasting 0-4 so I'm guessing Marosi isn't having a huge amount to do. (PS The Barnsley player who got sent off was a triallist, so probably not a successful trial for him!)

Mannion deserves to keep the gloves, if we were bringing in a top class keeper as number one then fair enough but a bog standard league one keeper…..nah……we might as well keep AMB as back up and spend the money in more priority areas of the pitch which we are all aware about….. |

We beat them 6-0 when we played them in April 2023 and he was absolutely abysmal that day. |

Perhaps worth adding, given the question, that both clubs involved in a swap deal are required to record a “fair market value” for both of the players involved. These fair market values are then entered into the respective club’s accounts and recorded in their balance sheets and P&L’s. These fair market values would then be used to calculate the value of any sell ons etc. This article from BBC Sport discusses the issue from a profitability and sustainability perspective. It’s possible that if Charlton felt we were being short changed, because Gomez’s valuation was seen as being too low, we could register our concern with the EPL who will be keen to avoid any chicanery in this area. |

Incoming a keeper , Potts and a midfielder .

Does Dixon count as he will go into development squad? Or do we think after bedding in he could offer the team something? Remember that we're going to be using one of our two EXC/GBE exemption slots on Dixon (since he doesn't remotely qualify for an actual work permit). I doubt we'd be doing that for someone we'll stick permanently in the U21s. (And remember the EXC/GBE only lasts a year, so not having Dixon in and around the matchday squad would make a renewal next summer fairly unlikely.) Also bear in mind that he's currently ahead of Anderson in terms of the Jamaica senior squad (recent minutes played etc). Personally I would be astonished if Dixon isn't in or around the matchday 18 after just a few weeks of bedding in/acclimatising with the unders. |
