Wasn't aware of that. If that's what he heard though he had every right not to be happy about it.

Wasn't aware of that. If that's what he heard though he had every right not to be happy about it. He reported it to the referee. And someone was ejected. (That person has since denied he said anything.) It was very close to the end of the game, and Charlton had a free kick. It seemed to take forever to sort out. When the free kick was finally taken, Big Chuks powered a header home. The Covered End choir were heard to sing: " He's gonna cry in a minute!" I say this, not to defend our supporters in any way. But if it happened to anybody, why would they then sign for the club that gave them such grief?

Jones has already said he will only bring loans in if they are a level above what we have got. I think that is a good call. Our bench yesterday was strong and we didn’t have Miles, Godden or Terry. I don’t think we are a millions miles away, for me the missing piece is a CAM. Is any perms close Reams or any players you can se are of interest to us? No names mate but I gave a bit of a hunch on one based on absolutely not very much. I'll come back to it. In that same conversation I had yesterday it was agreed that we are strong in the wing-back/full-back and CB positions. The same was said of our options up front which I agreed less with. I suggested a loan like Will Lankshear but that is when our young strikers came into it and how we don't really want to block their path. I expressed concerns on this as we have Godden with a niggle, Ahadme and Chucks who are both susceptible to injuries and don't know how Miles' hamstring will hold up to the demands of L1 football. We can't be left with Kanu and TC to choose from. We are happy with what we have but agreed that we are just lacking somebody who reliably pulls the trigger from the edge of the box. I think the keeper situation has flipped. They like Mannion and might well be looking for a back up rather than Mannion being that himself. It's an area that is obviously proving tricky. Until it becomes clear to some GKs in the EPL and Champ that they are going to sit on the bench all season we probably won't get much movement there. It's the same situation all over the pitch really because we won't precisely know where we are short until what is essentially a new team has played together for four or five games. By that stage all of your squad has played a part thanks to opportunities that come their way via the League Cup so I think we'll see how we go for a few weeks and if NJ doesn't think he has the personnel to give us what we are short of, a CAM for example, then I'm sure we'll make a move. That's how the discussion ended. Now, as for that CAM I asked if we had any interest in Elliot Lee. There was no particular reason other than me keeping an eye on goings on at Wrexham who by the way, It's well worth watching Jack Marriott's goal for them yesterday, it's a sight to behold. Anyway they have already signed Dobson and on Friday bought in attacking midfielder Ollie Rathbone from Rotherham. Could Lee be off? He played for NJ at Luton. His Dad is a Charlton legend. His wife and kids couldn't settle in Wrexham so moved back down South over the summer, Wrexham are signing lots of midfielders. Forget his loan spell with us. He is at the prime of his career and is the type of player we need. Scores all kinds of goals and has been a outstanding for Wrexham. Shoots on target and he scored some belters last season. Come the end of the window there will definitely be it's and outs. Miles resumes full training soon. Thanks for that Reams, refreshing that the goal keeper situation could have flipped, as I fo like the look of Mannion. Also interesting re Elliot Lee. I also am sure Jack Marriott has scored a couple of lovely goals against us, if my memory serves me right.

The halfheads on CL are moaning about Small potentially moving for nothing next summer. What element of the basic rules of football transfers don't they understand? The guy is 19 and we've offered him a new contract so we are guaranteed a big wedge if he moves on as a free agent. Southampton were forced by tribunal to pay Everton 3-4m when they signed Small (as Everton had offered him a contract). We won't get anywhere near that much (as that one included compensation for his entire youth development) but we will defo get hundreds of thousands so shut up with "we'll get nothing" you CL halfheads (no offence) x

Talking about changing the formation, after winning against a pre-season favourite, while getting a clean sheet is pretty much madness in anybody's book!

I wouldn't say Wigan are anywhere near a top six favourite mate.
Top 10 at best.

Lots of people being negative about Marosi, but Shrews fans seem to rate him and I think he was their player of the season last year. Why does nobody fancy him? You know he was the 'keeper a few seasons ago who said that someone in the covered end made some rascist comment? After that, why would you think he'd be interested in signing for Charlton? Ah, I didn't know that

I've noticed Harry Cornick wasn't in the Bristol City squad on Saturday having played in their last season friendly against Willem II, where he came on as a sub.
Would love to get this guy in on loan. Pie in the sky I know but if he wasn't injured and just left out at Hull it has to be worth a loan bid surely.

Would be a good addition, when Brizzle sell Conway they'll bring in more forwards,so the chance to work with NJ again might appeal hopefully? Reams,in your opinion is Potts the last CB incoming,or do you believe NJ is playing a waiting game for Bradley?

I'm not sure mate. I prefer Bradley but the problem is we may have to wait until the very last minute for him and that's even if he's available.
Derby are buying a new CB so that would close the door on him further, just depends how loyal NJ is towards Potts though. Wouldn't be right to have him involved for the last month and then sign somebody else.

Any updates on incomings/outgoings? More chance of a Lord Lucan sighting than a transfer rumour….🤣 Maybe we might have to wait until deadline day to see any movement either way….

Yes dickieplumb has left to try and help out at creating his 53rd forum alongside the anti-Semitist helmet, lardiman.
He never has a good word to say about this place so unfortunately we have had to get rid so that our members contact details are safe and don't get lifted like they have been before. He likes lifting stuff from other places, spends all day doing it and then posting it elswhere as his own info.
He's in good company over there alongside the entire forum membership of 8 who have all been hooked from here for one reason or another over the years.
It's where you will find Royston, Petts Wood's village idiot.

Three out at least and potentially the same number in. You only have to listen to NJ's first answer when interviewed after the Wigan game. He wants more press and intensity and deep down I think he knows we don't have that in the building.

I actually thought the press was more than decent enough on Saturday…..(an aspect of our game which we were pretty piss poor in last season)….…it was just what we did with the ball after winning it that was the problem….two defensive pressing midfielders shielding the back five is going to give us solidity but not much excitement going forward….

Depends on who leaves but I expecting at least two more. Potts may not yet sign. It's dependent on him proving his full fitness. There is a place in the squad for him if he can.

There's only one Charlton forum of note and that's right here.

We've had a few unhinged oddballs on here over the years. If nothing else I think ITTV can be credited with reuniting a handful of them all back in the one place. Off here and somewhere where the inmates have so much in common.

Does anyone know if we’re still actively interested in Sonny Bradley from Derby and if we’re still in the mix what are the chances ?

Results will set the mood, but perhaps look deeper at player performances and where there are obvious opportunities to improve. For example, Mannion has surprised some of us and may claim the jersey for a while? And which midfield additions/ combinations are required to maintain our improved defence AND help create more? And whilst we're all fans wanting exciting performances, we need to appraise the Matchday squad through the perspective of Nathan Jones and his pressing style.
