I want to see Terry Taylor start See what he’s about if Leaburn isn’t fit to start then Tedic must start.

Depends on their fitness levels. I'd really like to see T. Watson at RB, but I'm not sure how much of a pre-season he has had. So he might not be ready yet.
Hopefully Camara is fit enough again to play. He'll be important for us this year. His injury seems an odd one in terms of how long he's been out when it was reported as minor. I assume we will get an injury update this week. I hated the whole smoke and mirrors from Dean. "We may have 1 back, but I don't want to say who it is". I don't
It's also really dependant on what MA wants to play formation wise. I said in another thread that our squad, to me, is a mash up of 4-3-3 and 3-5-2. Is this showing the 'battle' between Andy Scott recruitment and Dean Holden's influence?
I know our fan base has been pushing for 2 up front. But we seem reliant on 3 CM's and heavily stacked in that area. Which means we are looking at 3-5-2 and then either dropping CBT or playing him LWB, where he will be ineffective.
I've liked the look of C Campbell. Not sure what his best position will be. Could see him in CAM or RW (4-3-3).
The biggest question for me is the defence. Will MA go for 4 at the back or 3? Will Abankwah play a part? I'd imagine not yet.

If we end up going with a 4-4-2 I'd quite like to see Asiimwe play RM, much better going forward than defending and great link-up play with the middle of the park.
Isted T. Watson - Ness - Jones - Edun Asiimwe - Dobson - Camara - CBT Leaburn - May
I see this as our strongest line-up until Fraser is fit with Tedic for Leaburn, T. Taylor for Camara and Hector for Ness/Jones as appropriate.

This thread should be 'which new players will get injured'

Think Abankwah needs to start ahead of Mess, this guy looks solid.

This question will obviously receive more coverage on the Stevenage match thread as we approach 2pm on Saturday when the match day squad is announced. I'd suggest that we will stick with a 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 approach AND that the most recent league performances suggest minimal changes. By this I mean that Appleton has been sellected by Scott and the SMT and will go with much of the side that beet Fleetwood and drew the second half with Oxford. No idea who will start as keeper and at centre-back, but the rest of the side kinda picks itself, doesn't it?

Think Abankwah needs to start ahead of Mess, this guy looks solid. Quite possibly if hes impressed in training, my only concern is him being 5ft9 when we're conceding so many from set pieces. That said we're leaking from open play too so plugging 1/2 gaps is still progress.

Something like this: www.sofascore.com/fleetwood-town-charlton-athletic/XsjEj#11371214Note that this site has Chem Campbell on the left of midfield when he's more of a No. 10 in a 4-2-3-1

I can see Anderson and Asiimwe losing their spots. I think there will be changes to this team. Chem Campbell or Leaburn playing RW over Tyreece.

Be prepared for the second coming of Kirk or is it the fifth who knows anymore but one thing is dot on the card Appleton is a fan and signed him to get him on loan so he has a shout of starting on Saturday

Leaburn won't yet be ready for 90 or should we say 100 minutes. And there are now six choices for the front four (including No. 10), so who starts and who's on the bench? Dobson starts so is it Taylor or Anderson to complete the midfield? Perhaps there's a case for Watson or Chin to start at right back? Question remains why change a winning side? Time will tell who Appleton selects

Be very interesting to see how we set up on Saturday and who starts. The players will probably think it’s all up for grabs with the new Head Coach offering a clean slate. However, it would be surprising if Michael Appleton doesn’t seek input from Jason Pearce.
Based on this, my somewhat boring prediction is as follows,
Isted
Asiimwe Hector Jones Edun
Anderson Dobson
C Campbell
T Campbell May Blackett Taylor
I’d be surprised if either Watson gets the nod ahead of Asiimwe or C Campbell respectively and the most likely of the XI above to miss out is probably Anderson who might find himself replaced by Taylor or even McGrandles, who was an Appleton favourite at Lincoln. If Leaburn starts it will probably be on the right of the front three, i.e. instead of T Campbell. I’d be amazed if Abankwah starts.
That’s probably all completely wrong.

Chuks Aneke is also yet to play for Charlton this season and missed the whole of their friendly programme due to a calf problem.
“One thing is for sure, he seems in a good place – which is helpful,” said Appleton. “The better place you are mentally then you are going to recover and be ready to be involved."
I think I'd be in a good place mentally if I got paid to be off work all the time too.

I’d imagine that Aneke is distraught that he keeps getting injured and I’ve no doubt his regular breakdowns must be both incredibly frustrating and mentally challenging for him. I simply don’t get the lack of empathy for his situation.

Now if being unable to work effected his wages being paid (Like a majority of the workforce) Or he had a life altering illness, I would have empathy. But I have zero for his situation. His body can't cope with his job. There's 5 lads I am stood around now who are limping about in pain. Having to work. I don't sympathise with his situation.

It will affect his earnings though because when his contract expires at the end of June 2025 nobody will offer him a new one. He’ll then spend the rest of his life wondering what might have been. Fair enough though. You’re entitled to your opinion.

With respect, I don’t think you are empathising with his position. That’s my point. If you have no sympathy with him then fair enough. For what it’s worth I do have sympathy with him, but that’s just my perspective.

I think he will be fine.
