It’s all been sorted .. players know that’s the important thing I am sure that supporters are keen to know as soon as possible just what ambition the club has in regards to its recruitment before they commit to a season ticket Watching Morgan and co being resigned after a season of mediocrity is not going to get supporters rushing up to the ticket office |

I've heard that 2 of the pigeons have been released...some light humour for Friday! Does anyone know what happened to the pigeons? Was about 50% of the entertainment on a Saturday for us in Bloc C ACS. Storie did say at the fans forum that something was going to be done. |

I don't want to sound impatient but why would the club keep this in house until next week? The players were spoken to before last weekend, apparently, and I'm sure that the decisions were known a while ago. I don't think the club, or the manager, would have learned anything about the players in the last month. I always assumed that the reluctance to tell the players early was because it was believed that they would put more effort in if they didn't know if they were going to be offered a new contract. Now that the decisions have been made I can't see any reason as to why the club would not tell the fans. I can't believe it's to sell more season tickets - surely no one is thinking of buying one this weekend. |

Can someone explain the significance of a “retained list” in today’s game? What does it actually mean and what does it really tell us?
Players under contract are presumably “retained”, whether we want to retain them or not, until they have found themselves a satisfactory or better contract somewhere else? Players out of contract can’t be “retained” until they’ve signed a new contract, in which case why not just announce those deals on a case by case basis?
My heart goes out to all those involved when a kid who has been in the academy since he was nine years old gets released, but realistically such news is of very little relevance to next season.
In truth, they’ll be players we’d like to move on, Jaiyesimi, Aneke, Kirk et al, who will all be on the retained list and where we’re unlikely to be told what’s likely to happen, and players we’ve offered contracts to, Michael Hector, perhaps, but who’ve not yet signed. The only players that might have signed, perhaps Sean Clare, for example, will be those unwilling to risk waiting for a better offer from somewhere else.
The uncertainty all of this creates is there before we begin to speculate about the circa 5-10 signings we’ll probably make before the window closes.
I can’t see us learning much, if anything, next week. I’m certainly not holding my breath.
