Genuine question, what difference does it make to spend a fee vs sign an out of contract player?
These "haven't spent a penny" lot don't seem to equate an out of contact player needing a signing bonus, probable agents fee etc. Not to mention paying up Garner's contract, that wasn't free.
It is alleged that the Pope money is being paid in instalments and we get a percentage over the £1.5mill fee Burnley supposedly agreed with us. So the £2mill Newcastle allegedly paid so far for Pope is no where near the 20% of the £20+ million people thought the Pope fee would be at the start of summer.
The 1mill for Burstow has probably already gone keeping everything running (not even considering the increase in costs of literally keeping the lights on - approx 250% increase like other businesses).
Unless someone else's pockets are sufficiently deep enough to bankroll an odds on title winning side, pay all debts, agree to Roland's rediculous demands to purchase the ground and Sparrows Lane and be happy to write off £8mill+ a year (and then agree to chucking in 5-10x that amount after getting back into the Championship to even just stand still and not get relegated.)then we need to get behind the team and Garner, even more so if he has his hands tied behind his back!

Mixed messages in this,we all know we aren't exactly STFC favourites at the moment,perhaps nievely I'll believe we still want to land him.It really shouldn't involve rejigging what we have already,but with some players clearly not going to get a look in moving forward,the budget should allow it surely?.As others have rightly said,IF TS REALLY believes we can run with the pack with just the forwards we have currently then he is beyond deluded,and is asking for trouble. C'mon TS give BG a fighting chance. |

It’s the lack of budget (fee or wages) that we apparently have currently which is frustrating. As we have a squad that can compete and we’re playing some of the nicest football I’ve seen us play in years. If (big IF for me) we manage to move a few on then things may change. But unlikely we will go from having no budget to having budget enough for McKirdy or someone that is in contract. Although isn’t it McKirdys last year? |

Maybe we’ll sign him on a free next summer then? Sadly we will, almost certainly, have fewer season ticket holders by then. If we fail to sustain a challenge and the fans believe it’s due to a lack of sufficient players by the Sandgaard Trio then we might be looking to cut the wage bill even further next summer. Or, hopefully, we are just bluffing to get the transfer fees down and we are going to manage to pull off a swap deal with Mr Aneke! 😂 |

Yep,STFC may not look at us favourably,but will surely want cash in,as opposed to let him walk.I could be way off,but HM clearly enjoyed working with BG and is a London lad,this move looks a no brainer to me.But if TS refuses to lay out then it clearly wont happen. I'm by no means saying HM guarantees anything,but we have 1! reliable senior striker FFS! ML is a talent no doubt,but it's beyond obvious we need more firepower. |

Rumour is Cole Stockton will go for 500k. How about swapping Chucks and throwing in 200k Tommy?

Pathetic really,Any team that has ideas/aspirations of challenging wouldn't be sat here,reacting to what might happen,they would aquire the players needed to help their challenge. Ipswich again,gone big adding to what already is a top squad for this level,SW today adding Wilks makes them even stronger,do you think they thought about shifting players out before adding? I seriously doubt it. Can't send mixed messages,we want to challenge,but we're nowhere near in budget terms? |
