Bowyer: "I am sure we will agree for me to stay. I want to stay, I love the club.” Sent a chill down my spine reading that. He is pivotal to the club whilst there is so much continued uncertainty surrounding CAFC What do you reckon he earns at the moment ? 3 or 4 per week ?

A very good question but I don’t have a faintest idea.
Logically he should be on one of the highest paid members of staff but you maybe sure that most of ‘the talent’ will earn more.

I've been supporting Charlton since 1985. In that time we have had 2 managers who were the 'perfect fit for us: Lennie and A.C. I believe that Lee is also in that category and it could be a long wait for another if we lose him. When Lennie and A.C were appointed there was no reason to believe they would be great Charlton managers. On paper Pardew had the most impressive CV. Unfortunately the same fans who are asking RD to sort out Lee's contract are the same ones who are telling RD to get lost. Had they faced reality a couple of years ago the fanbase might have had more influence. But for the sake of ego and the appearance of doing something (futility) we have burned our bridges and can only hope that our owner sees reason. I think most people would add Powell to that list.

Maybe a takeover is very close and new deals are for the new owners to discuss.
Pointless Duchatelet offering terms when a new consortium could offer him and the players who are out of contract more money.
HenryIrving10 is Royston. Make of that what you will.

Not being big headed or anything but Lennie has gone on record and told the family at my old man's funeral that he couldn't have achieved what he did at Charlton without him. He was the voice in the dressing room apparently and Gritty has told me that too.

Really. Bowyer said after the game he was turning his phone off (Presumably so he could enjoy half a shandy with the team) and wouldn't be reachable that night. How do they know there has been no contact, are they bugging his phone?

Maybe wishful thinking , but I too have been wondering for a while ,if LB contract situation is linked to the takeover . Maybe also , the takeover was linked to the result of the play off final . If so, then his contract will be the choice and decision for the new owners . Either way , something should be announced in the very near future , the pre season will be with us again soon . Fingers crossed for for some positive news.

Is he ..... LB seems to be the only not bothered about his contract and he the only one who knows what’s going on .... and if he happy to go on holiday and leave it for when he comes back then that means one of two things .... It’s all sorted and it will be ready for him to sign when he returns Or a takeover in only two weeks away and new owners will meet him on his return
Either way there no story here and no panic

Should that be the case I would imagine they might have let Bowyer know - sheer professionalism would suggest you don't leave your manager hanging out to dry without explaining the reasons. It doesn't then mean he would tell all and sundry (including the Standard) but if (and it's an if) this has come from Bowyer, it paints a strange picture.

Exactly it’s just an if and not worth worrying about unless there is a direct quote from LB. Especially if the rumour has come from Royston of all people!!!!

This should have been sorted weeks ago.
Now it's dragging on even longer.

I’m secretly hoping it will be announced soon by our new owner(s)..... Glad you are back from wherever you have been, Gazza. You retired from here about three months ago and missed the best bit of the season.
Your parting shot was a moan about selling Grant and the words "our owner doesn’t want us to be successful on the pitch. Most can see this, but some just don’t want to..."
Between those words and your reappearance, we won nine out of our 11 final league games and although you weren't around to comment on our success, I do hope you enjoyed it from wherever you were.
Welcome back. We missed you!

Just the type of post we could do with sending to our cnut of an owner, what do you reckon? It would serve a greatet purpose than aiming it at our own fans. The cowardly twat didn't attend Wembley in fear of his own safety and rightly so. It's just a shame he can't feel that fear going about his daily life.

Hi Nigel Thanks for you adoration - I see you still fall into the “some just don’t want to” camp I take it you’re as glad as I am that we have a manager, and set of coaches, hell bent on being successful in spite of the owner?

Just try to enjoy a rare and spectacular season of success, Garry. Remember them words you wrote in Left Foot Forward about "savouring the moment"? Yet we had total silence from you from March thru May when we were enjoying that amazing winning streak. "our owner doesn’t want us to be successful on the pitch. Most can see this, but some just don’t want to..." you say . and I'm "one of them"? You do come out with some witless comments. Of course the owner wanted promotion. He's put Charlton on the market and as a championship club with 38,000 supporters he's now got a much better chance of getting his asking price. Now you're back, though, please don't be a stranger. You took a three month vow of silence while we were winning. You've now got almost three months to whinge and moan over the summer before we kick a ball again.
Then if we start winning, you will probably shut up once more. We do understand. 'It's being so cheerful what keeps you going' (you're not old enough to remember ITMA and Mona Lott, but could google it and you will get the joke...) regards Killer

We're just glad to have you back, Garry. Three months of ominous silence while the rest of us cheered the team on to promotion - and now you're back with this flurry of splendid posts, practially living on ITTV as your re[plies come thick and fast and within not even minutes but seconds. You were always one of my favourite players, Garry (well two, actually , given your previous Steve Brown identity theft). You never gave up in your playing days. Can you not show just a tiny little glimpse of pleasure at Charlton's success in 2018/19 ? You say the club's owner "doesn’t want us to be successful on the pitch" (a bizarre claim as it's easier to sell a successful club than a failing one). Are you sure it isn't you who "doesn’t want us to be successful on the pitch", Garry, because it disproves the claims of you and your glum chums that we are "a shell of a club" and "bring shame on the whole of English foottball"?
Not sure why you think I'm a Palace supporter, though?
warmest wishes to you
Del Boy

From the member who posted recently on another thread... Wish you would close this thread, reams. Debate is good. But it is surely just a provocative wind-up that only 2/3 days after our Wembley triumph, one poster has mischievously decided it would be fun to try to divide us all over again with wild and unverifiable claims about how we owe so much to the protestors and boycotters. Presumably IA, these last three messages to garrynelson are what you regard as good debate?

What if neither of you two are correct? What if RD is neither excited about success nor determined to destroy the club. Hard to figure as passionate Charlton fans but RD might simply be an eccentric billionaire who wanted to put something back by buying a set of football clubs down on their luck.
From observing the last five years and particularly the last two seasons, he appeared to be somewhat agnostic about promotion, funding the squad enough to secure a play off slot.
Perhaps we might ask a different question: did the results against Doncaster and Sunderland change all of the effort and money spent in the preceding 12 months? Does the completely random outcome of three very competitive games change Bowyer, Gallen, JJ, Avory, Murray, Parkes and Duchatelet?!
After all, isn't that why we enjoy the football so much? It can be so completely unpredictable as well as absorbing.
