Let’s not keep digging at each other ffs, this is about RD and LB. You don’t get any extra points for having a go at BB all the time!! Agreed jeddez , but when you are annoyed and angry you don’t need someone telling you “told you so” repeatedly..... especially after saying that the story about Bowyer leaving , was “a load of crap” one hour ago.... But take your point , fella is just a wind up merchant.... Just better to ignore any posts you don’t like. He just try’s to see the brighter side of life. No harm in that really. There is prob more to this statement on the os than meets the eye, hope it will be revealed ASAP

Just offer Lee Bowyer a 6-month extension for now.
Let's see what happens with players signing and take-overs and how the season starts. That would take us to Christmas at least.
What the article does suggest is that the take-over is close. And maybe this is something the new owner is wanting?
From what I read actually I believe the Championship is probably the worst division for a chairman. Wages are on average 4 times those of League One (from what I read) and there isn't the huge money from the Premier League.

Talks have stalled .....he not left the club yet but
“The club hasn’t started to look for any other manager in the meantime and does not intend to appoint a permanent manager, since the club is going to be sold. A caretaker manager will be announced in due course and in the meantime the other staff members will continue to prepare the upcoming season for which a lot of good work has been performed already.
Interesting line the club is going to be sold ... pretty certain statement ?

I find it bizarre that if a takeover was close the new owner would see what the current team have achieved and give them a chance by being involved in contract negotiations, this is why I have doubts it is that that close. However, if I’m wrong and the plan is to bring in NW then I think it is wholly unfair on LB. I see a club in limbo who may struggle to sign players with no manager in charge who may not even want them in their team. Going to be an interesting fortnight or so...

'The fact the club is for sale has not helped with finding an agreement. The current owner needs to take into account that a new owner may want to appoint his own manager. Neil Warnock coming in .... thought you said RD was desperate to protect Bowyer??

If the figures are right, then they’ve offered to up his wages from about £140k to about £400k a year. I would assume that’s top end L1 or lower Championship rate. Not clear whether the takeover makes it hard to write bonuses into contract.

From what I read actually I believe the Championship is probably the worst division for a chairman. Wages are on average 4 times those of League One (from what I read) and there isn't the huge money from the Premier League. The whole point is that Bowyer had a one year extension built in but has refused to sign it because it was at mid table league 1 rates. The article goes into great detail about offers as well as the losses that many Championship clubs suffer but it ignores the following: Whatever Bowyer wanted would have been covered by additional season ticket sales The club should have been on a roll since Wembley and one more push / building the squad could make the club worth £50M?! We shouldn't close the door on this being resolved, either through re-opening talks or a takeover but this situation could have been avoided. And what's worse is that the negative publicity associated with this latest development simply isn't going to help, either in ticket sales, selling the club or pre season preparation. Fact is that the fanbase is going to struggle with this and rightly so. They pay to watch a team and support the management- last time this happened was with Mike Bailey and that did not end well!

Why is Roland writing like the costs of managing a Championship football club are suddenly completely unreasonable? That’s exactly what we were when he bought us.
Without wanting to go OTT, it’s clear from that statement that Roland is not completely sound of mind. It must be extremely difficult to negotiate with someone who isn’t all there mentally.

I have no idea if LB was being greedy or at least unrealistic with his demands , but I would have thought, knowing RD , Lee wouldn’t have expected to get big money out of him , especially now . It sounds a bit like game of bluff where neither would back down .
Is it because of the takeover being close , and the new owner indicating that he wants his own man, who knows .......?
I do share the view of others, that RD didn’t want , or expect promotion, and certainly didn’t celebrate it in the way us fans did .He wouldn’t want to increase his losses by paying increased wages .
Where are we now , a ship without a rudder , and I guess JJ and SG dealing with the everyday stuff. There no doubt that Bow not being here will have a massive impact on who stays and who goes, as well as which players we can attract .
If a new manager is coming in, I doubt that he will want us to continue signing players, existing of new, that he hasn’t chosen for himself . Grrrrrrr how short was that period of euphoria and happiness from just a few weeks ago .
We need that takeover desperately now, and soon ,before it gets a whole lot worse .

Absolutely gutted about this afternoon's news, but now I have got over the initial shock and Richard Crawley has given a glimmer of hope that Lee will not leave, I do wonder whether Bow using an agent has seriously back fired on him.
Lee has every right to expect a pay rise after getting us up in impossible circumstances, but I do wonder whether the agent has pushed the madman too far and he has reacted with the statement.
Incredible that only three weeks ago yesterday we were on such a high and now such a low with this news.

Hes definitely got the hump when the agent got involved, but Bowyer probably got sick of trying to negotiate with him, so got someone else to do it.

Surely most managers and players negotiate through an agent now rather than face to face? If someone stuck a contract worth £200k a year in front of me, along with possible bonuses and break clauses, I would want a professional to take a look at it

Why is Roland writing like the costs of managing a Championship football club are suddenly completely unreasonable? That’s exactly what we were when he bought us. Cos RDs `modus operandi' for the club was always league 1 level. He'd worked out some crude sums prior to purchasing the club and figured we'd operate best there as part of his network. Run the club like Bejams with the academy squeezing out a golden egg every couple of years to flog on and pay the bills. Hes never had any intention of aiming any higher.

Makes me laugh apparently Lee Bowyer is asking to much money contract wise yet its ok for Looney Tunes to ask over the odds for the Club .You couldn't make this shit up.
