Is JJ in the same boat I.e out of contract at the end of the month? If so what’s happening with him? JJ is also out of contract soon , but I would think both JJ and the club are waiting for LB contract situation to be sorted first.

Let’s all hope it is finalised soon, its most important signing of the summer ............ next, the sale of the club documents.

Until it’s a “done deal”, there will continue to be a nagging doubt. So much is written in the press - Daily Mail, eh! who’d a thought it, that turns out to be wrong- but fingers crossed that on this occasion, the journo is correct. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

“League One playoff triumph against Doncaster”? I’m sure it was the next game that LB will be remembered for. Daily Mail again!

It's a nothing article anyway. No proof of what they're claiming, no quotes, just a regurgitation of old articles to fill space.

Had a interesting conversation yesterday when I was told details of the bowyer situation ... not going to name names
But it looks like Bowyer agreed an 18 month contract with an extension of a year ... the issue was that Bowyer did not ask for any rise of change to bonus etc etc in the years extension . So of course when the offer was made the club was only offering the deal Bowyer agreed to .... my thinking is if we were still in league one Bowyer would have just signed the extra year and no one would know any diff ... ...

Then his contract wouldn’t run out at the end of the month if that was true as he was only appointed as our manager (and not caretaker) after we started last season
Better not name names

So I reckon there's 3 possible places we are at, ranked from wishful thinking, to I want to bury my head in the sand and cry a bit:
- Bow has signed the contract, gone to do some fishing whilst RD sorts the sale out, leaving Bow to come back with a load of fish and chips for his newly formed squad and new boss
- We havnt moved anywhere in sale or contracts. Bows has gone to do some fishing for the weekend, frustrated at RD. The sale keeps on looking likely the RD moves the goalposts for the 285th time.
- Everything has fallen through. Bows has gone fishing, finished with RD and with us as a club. The sale has also gone wrong with potential buyers getting fed up on RD's nonsense. We will have RD in charge for the season and struggle a lot, spending maybe 500k on a couple of young unproven lads, some frees and some loans.
I hope it's option 1. I think it's more Than likely option 2, and will be for at least another year before someone comes close to buying us

Ever the optimist, I’m hoping for good news this week, on either LB or the takeover or both.

Fucksake, how can you pay Bowyer a similar amount to the managers of lower League One level?! That's just ridiculous. It's clear that Duchatelet isn't fussed whether we keep Bowyer or not.

If the article is right, then the situation is completely bonkers even by Duchatelet’s standards. Unbelievable.

Isn't the Standard the same paper that have given us about 20 different versions of the state of takeovers during the past 12 months.

Another piece of clickbait with nothing new written and published so as to encourage the seagulls looking for sardines. Obviously RD should move negotiations towards a deal asap so that the club can sell more STs and the management can get on with squad building.

The article says, “But Duchatelet has made him a low offer that would put his salary in line with managers in the bottom half of League One.“ If that’s true it’s bonkers. If the Standard have simply made that up it’s unacceptable. Perhaps there’s a rational explanation somewhere in the middle?

That is 100 % wrong ... Bowyer was not poorly paid last season and in fact got paid more then at least one championship manager

Bowyer is leaving www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/5d07a7df422e2/charlton-unable-to-reach-an-agreement-with-lee-bowyer-on-contract-extensionCharlton Athletic have been unable to reach an agreement with manager Lee Bowyer regarding the extension of his contract. The fact the club is for sale has not helped with finding an agreement. The current owner needs to take into account that a new owner may want to appoint his own manager. However, this concern did not stop the current owner proposing a contract extension of one year to Lee Bowyer, even though the club may be sold in a few weeks. Under those circumstances a multi-year extension would not be good business practice. In addition, since the club is still losing money, which is one of the reasons why the club has not been sold yet, the focus on reducing costs means that we are extremely limited on payroll increases. Lee has been offered a one-year extension to his contract at a level which is approximately three times what he had since his last increase when he became permanent manager in September. It is six times what he earned when he started as assistant manager in 2017 and 50% more than what any Charlton manager previously had (excluding the Premier League years). This reflects the strong desire we have to continue to have Lee as our manager. But Lee wanted much more. The owner understands Lee’s point of view, because many Championship clubs pay huge amounts (some pay millions of £ per year) to their manager. It is fair that Lee feels he should be paid like many other Championship managers. That the average Championship club makes a loss of around £15 million per year is not something players should care about. The owners are crazy. This is why we could not come to an agreement. Another element may have influenced as well. Unlike previous contract discussions, Lee wanted an agent to handle it. We reluctantly accepted. However, involving a player agent in a manager’s contract discussion is not healthy. If the agent helps make the manager more money, it may result in the manager to have a more positive attitude towards players proposed by the same agent, a conflict of interest. Obviously, Lee is above such things, but it is nevertheless not a healthy situation. The club hasn’t started to look for any other manager in the meantime and does not intend to appoint a permanent manager, since the club is going to be sold. A caretaker manager will be announced in due course and in the meantime the other staff members will continue to prepare the upcoming season for which a lot of good work has been performed already. If Lee does change his mind before his contract expires and chooses to continue his good work at Charlton, he is still welcome to stay. However our ability to sell the club is the most important thing right now.
