Perhaps a few quid will be spared from Benty's transfer plus £1m from Wigan for Big Bent and say 50% of parachute payment giving Pardew about £8m, however, unless he buys a proven mid-field playmaker who can pass on the ground, a good winger plus a top central defender, it could turn out to be money wasted.
Additionally a couple of season long lone deals from the top 6 clubs in the prem league, no more going back to your old clubs and loaning players that are past their sell by date.

I suspect £1-£2M tops unless they get serious money from player sales. The parachute payment will be required to help to balance the books. There will be little left over unless the Directors are going to put their hands in their pockets.

I cant see it being as low as that Bing. We've got parachute payments, further installments from D Bent deal, £1m from M Bent and £2.99 from Faye . Plus were likely to sell a few. I'd say £8m or so.

The problem as I see it CD, is the rights issue which was recently announced talked about raising £20M for working capital to sort out short term loans (from Directors). None of that was earmarked for transfers. That don't sound like the club has got much in the bin to chuck around. The fact is that the club had to reduce its on-going operating costs by more than 50% during the season and that is really difficult to achieve, bearing in mind that there will have been huge one off costs to do it such as redundancy pay. Maybe they'll find £4 or £5M but frankly I would be surprised it will be as much as that unless more funds are put in by Directors for that purpose.

£5.5m. They'll try and keep and emergency fund for January, in case of injuries and shiteness.
