concerned about the lack of activity as are most other CAFC fans, although we have signed Hudson already this summer
What concerns me more is that we seem to be puttig all our eggs into the same basket as last season with strikers. 3 lower league strikers came into the club and failed. Iwelumo had only had 1 season in Championship before joining us. Having signed Fleetwood we again seem to be looking at cheap possibilities of filling voids.
I understand the club has taken a hit with relegation but many other clubs already in the championship and the most recent relegated clubs are spending or looking to spend big in these areas. I dont mean gbp10mil big but 2 or 3 million. If we dont get a spine for the team or experience & creativity then I am worried of another season in which the fans will be frustrated by performances.

Agreed although we can't spend what we have'nt got so I suppose the question is why haven't we got it?
It's looking like new players all hinge on whether we can sell Bent and Faye who are on three times more than the next biggest earner at The Valley, but with no clubs interested it would seem we are in trouble.
What I can't understand is if Moo2 or Youga get injured who replaces them where as if a striker gets crocked we have 8 others to come in.

I'm sure that some of our strikers will be on their way once the domino effect of the transfer market starts. I am quite happy with Varney, Gray and Toderov as the main strike force with 1 or 2 others. It is then easier to get full backs in who will do a job than strikers.
Thought Wolves were interested in Bent.

I go along with your first choice of strikers mstoneaddick but the big fear is Bent will not move on through lack of a buyer and that could spell disaster on two fronts.
The first is he is our main source of income available to us from the players we need to move on. The transfer clock is ticking and realistically we cannot bring new players in until he goes.
Secondly and this really would fook us up, if we can't sell Bent for the desired price what will happen is if he stays we'll have yet another striker so we might have to off load another in the same price bracket and I can only think of Varney who would fit the bill and there is no way in the world I would want that to happen.

Bent will only agree to a move if someone comes up with a better pay deal than he's getting with us, no money, no move.
However, can't see him being in Pardew's squad and will have to bide his time in the rezzies until January when clubs at the bottom of the league will pay just to get a striker to assist in their fight against relegation..

The problem there Vv is at Championship level he would push Varney, Toddy and Gray all the way, besides if we are suffering a goal drought Bent will have to come into the equation.

Maybe for a game or two but he doesn't show total committment, too many times after a run "pretends" to have a hamstring problem as he rubs the back of his thigh and looks in pain just to catch Pardew's eye so he can come off the pitch, "injury" clears up when he's out Clubbing at night, that's why do you never read about him requiring physio treatment after a game, slight tears in a hamstring take weeks of treatment, not minutes.
Varney, Toddy and Gray are committed to Charlton and show it, two out of these three must be our starting line up with the unfortunate odd one out coming off the bench.

What I can't understand is if Moo2 or Youga get injured who replaces them where as if a striker gets crocked we have 8 others to come in. Well, Basey can replace Youga but there is no natuiral cover for Moo2 unless Solly can make the step up otherwise it's Forch or Bougherra. Elsewhere, Bent will go but the question is when ? If he doesn't go until near the end of August we are hamstrung with reagrd to bringing in players and by then the ones we want would have gone or will become expensive as Clubs know we are desperate. Bent and Faye's wages mean they won't be here beyond 31st August at the latest even if it means loaning them and paying some of those wages as with them still on the books we are fooked, big time !!
