Reams - think we've got an interloper on here who thinks insulting long term members is the way to go, perhaps using your Veto, send him/her/that, back to where it came from.

Not sure I've insulted anyone? .. apart from the simple Dan comment, but that was a response to his simple minds comment.
Was keen to come on here and have a laugh. One of the only message boards along with CL to have regular posters.
But seems a bit clicky by everyone's responses.
Up the addicks.

I have no evidence that this is a FOL wannabe just as there is no evidence that this is a clicky site. After all how can it be when the bloke that runs it is always accused of stepping out of line ;D Would rather not see the personals though guys and that goes for everybody

Thanks Reams.
I'm all for a bit of banter, agree on the personal insults though. No need for people to be so suspicious. Especially if you want to grow the site and be all-inclusive.

Leave it alone now pal. Came on having a laugh at Reams constant slating of Pardew with a ironic post about him and Warnock being the dream team.
Not sure what it had to do with you, but you can't help yourself. From what I can gather Reams is more than capable of taking it on the chin and having a laugh... I don't think he needs you acting like his big brother.
You wont get a rise out of me, so as I said before run along to your Millwall and Palace mates if you're looking for your daily dose of immature point scoring.
Ta ta.

Oh .... just realised I should have put "an ironic" rather than "a ironic". Before you try and pick me up on that...

Just one thing though, why the multiple user names all as a guest?
Why not just choose a name and be a member?

"Laughing at Reams constant slating of Pardew" is very different to "Laughing at Reams" in my book.
But I take your point on the insulting you bit. I should have left the "immature" out of the sentance. Who am I to judge.
Thank you for pointing that out.

If you got Pards on here, you wouldn't need to hit him with rubber hoses and knuckle dusters to get him to admit he made mistakes last season.
As Cityaddick said, he was faced with having to sell his best players.
I just felt that he was guilty of not sticking to his original game plan and ending up with a team of individuals not playing as a unit.
That was then, this is now. I hope he can make it happen this season and I give him my support. As for Colin Wanker, well entertaining he may be; our manager he will never be so I dismiss him as a loud-mouthed ref abuser who rarely see's things anything other than his way. He was supposed to be chasing Hoolahan but he pulled away from signing him.
Reams, your background gives you access to knowledge that most on here don't possess. Pointing out players that may fit the bill is what a good scout will do. But this is only a very small part of the picture.
Fighting off other clubs interest, putting together a package that may tempt them to join, how they are likely to fit into a team, how they might get on with their team-mates, whether they are likely to be injury prone, whether they like the manager and the coaching set up, how quickly they may adapt to tactics, whether they feel they might feel they have too much comptetion for their place, how their spouses (and often their kids) may take to moving around the country, the cost of housing in London and I'm sure many other reasons, determine whether an identifed prospect is actually signed.
Lets give the club, the manager and his staff the benefit of the doubt that they are trying their hardest with the resources available to them to build a team capable of sustaining a promotion push. After all Pard's has been successful at his previous clubs in achieving promotion or play off places.

Excellent post bing which I agree with in the main except I can't share your optimism on Pardew, but I say that as a Charlton fan and not a personal critic.
Roberto Donadoni told the Italian nation prior to the Euro's that his squad would deliver but they and he failed and he was sacked last week.
Fair dues to the guy he refused to accept compensation from he Italian FA because he didn't feel he deserved it and we need more characters like him in the game.
Alan Pardew told us all last year that he has a two year plan to take us up, which the way things look at the moment looks to be an embarrassing statement because we are no nearer that than we were when he took over and if anything we have gone backwards.
If he were to come out and say the same words as Donadoni I would have more respect for him, a simple "if I fail I'll walk" would do and imho he should say that because he has got us where we are so if he is sacked why should he be paid off?
I have no time for him as a person but im a Charlton fan and he is the manager so I have to get on with it.
He also needs to stop the statements that he makes because all they do is raise the expectation levels and when they fall flat he is making a rod for his own back.
He got nothing right what so ever last season but I will support him by saying that he was failed by the board who sold his best player but in their defence should they give him money to buy new players at the moment? my answer is NO! why should they after seeing what they have got for their cash so far under him.
That to me is our biggest problem at the moment do they trust him? does he trust them? there appears to be a reluctance to release cash but at the same time we dropped down the ranks last year and potential new players do not see us as a big draw anymore.
As for the scouting system we really do need to be looking at players further a field. Before I moved to Cardiff I was my Dad's Northern scout and he asked me to watch Carl Dale at Chester which I did, soon after he signed, I did the same with Phil Stant who played for Mansfield and they went on to form a deadly strike partnership at Ninian Park so you see it really isn't that difficult, if I can do it anybody can, there are some very good players in the lower leagues and I wouldn't have to think twice about bringing in Keith Andrews and Dean Lewington from MK Dons.
It's a new season on the way up but all aspects off last season on and off the pitch have to be put to bed or we'll end up going nowhere.
