i'd imagine it would be Bougherra. No smoke without fire and all that.
I think Pardew has the right attitude in fairness. We've already got enough 'fringe' players like Fortune, Dickson, Racon, etc who aren't really gonna start unlesswe have injury problems. The last thing we need is even more.
As for Fleetwood, if we assume that Varney/Gray will be first choice, that leaves him, Todorov (injury prone and lacking football) and Iwelumo (bit of a donkey) to contest places on the bench, so i think we might be seeing a fair bit of him, at least until McLeod and Todorov get back up to pace.

The problem is Exeter and I said it all last season, our fringe players are nowhere near good enough to an extent where 3 or 4 injuries or a suspension or two means big problems for us as the players that come in seriously weaken our side.
We need the embarrassment of riches we have up front - in midfield as Thomas, Ambrose, Holland even ZZ have no more improvement in them and only Matty is prepared to dig in when need be. His work rate ups his game where as the others don't have it in them, they are the same week in week out and I fail to see how these 3 will hurt teams next season as they are stale.
We need players who put a shift in week in week out not inconsistent rubbish like we have been getting.

i agree reams, hence why i'm glad we're having a clear out and adopting a 'new' philosophy of only buying players with a decent chance of getting into the first team rather than 'ones for the future' who turn out to be crap like we got last year, eg. Sinclair.
