Fulham interested, Sunderland and Middlesbrough watching situation. Pardew hoping ZZ will stay but with offers indicated around £4m it will be hard to say no if ZZ wants out.
Feel we need either to keep him or up the ante and use funds for a mid-field play maker such as Garvan of Ipswich.

i really like ZiZi. i think he's got great touch, amazing energy and an eye for a goal. With good holding midfielder and two proper wingers he could be a real asset for us, but people occassionally expect a bit much from him IMO.
That said, i wouldn't turn down £4m, especially if we could get a decent replacement for a couple of million.

A £4m PACKAGE I read so let's all wait to see what this means. Maybe £1m and a player or two coming to us or wait for it £1m now and the other £3m in instalments over the next few years as we are good at that aren't we! www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11684_3637093,00.html The way I see it is nothing looks like changing from this time last year with our best players going (which in some cases they had to) friendlies arranged against the same old local sides, trips to Spain etc etc, when is enough enough. We are going to steal a march on other clubs for players we were told, fook me there are more rumours of players going than there are of one's coming in........more Pardew bollox obviously. This club is on a slippery slope and if ZZ goes all we need then is Pardew to come out and name his replacement which I have no doubt will again be somebody we are prepared to settle for rather than it being a coup. I will say the same words as I used when Andy Reid left which were if he goes he goes but lets replace him with somebody better or at least as good as....somehow I doubt that happening. One thing I will say is that ZZ has not been the same player since Reid's departure as he found space created by opponents concentrating solely on Reid but when he went it was ZZ that became the marked man. If he goes that will be the loss of two players who contributed 14 goals last season so who else can come in and do that based on the kind of paltry money that we will no doubt spend to fill the void? I read today that engineering works on Virgin train services will bring to an abrupt end my 23 year run of never missing the 1st game of the season, the way im feeling at the moment I don't need Richard Bransons help to stay away.

Reams, I'd hate to see ZZ going but money at the club is extremely tight and if somebody comes in with serious money for him, I can't see the club turning it down. It's a fact of life. On the other habd, I thought that ZZ had a work permit problem which mean't that he couldn't play for anybody else, thats why he came back to us last season.

I understood the same regarding the work permit too bing.
You hit the nail right on the head there too, money is tight but in my book it's a disgrace that it ever got to this stage.
The money men should be looking for additional backers or extra sponsorship as clearly they are no longer tempted to put their own hands in their pockets and quite simply who could blame them when the last £25m that they have given to the past 2 managers has been pissed up against the wall so as a result it's rewind ten years time again and sell our best players.
We haven't a cat in hell's chance next season if money is as tight as it would appear so something has to give.
The summer will be interesting and if we generate £6m from Bougherra and ZZ, Pardew has to be given the lot with what else is already in the pot to hopefully make it around £10m available to him.
If this happens we have a chance, however if what we see is a repeat of the Reid debacle (ie: not replacing him) or even half of the generated cash going straight in the bank with only the other half given to Pardew then we can forget it.
As far as the transfer market goes will we only see a midfielder or two come in if ZZ goes? Does Pardew think we are adequate in that dept? I hope not but it concerns me that early on during last pre-season we bought in 2 strikers and a centre half and if Fleetwood signs it would mean we have more or less done the same this year too so what is his train of thought?

Long ball game appears to be Pardew's strategy again this year, by thumping the ball up-field, in his mind, we won't need a mid-field other than at set pieces so let the better players go for cash. Also, we do have Faye and Marcus for sale or are we not going to push through the sales and allow them out on loan again next season with us contributing to their wages?
Ream, you have an interview tomorrow and need to be calm, collective and with a clear mind, so today forget The 'Addicks and go for a long walk, without your laptop, and compose yourself for Tuesday's appointment.

Here we go again.....Its the same every summer on every MB!! No news coming out of the club, QED everyone is just sitting around doing fuck all. Unsubstantiated reports surrounding our players, QED we're bending over and letting ourselves be bum f**ked
*Sighs. Pulls door shut behind him*

As I have said before I think the board realise that in the past two seasons they have given Dowie and Pardew close on £23m.
What have they got for their money? Not alot.
I think if I were in their position I would want to recoup most of it before I lay out a penny more and when a majority of the money blown is recouped I would have serious reservations about giving it to Pardew to be frank.
Last season revealed a number of things about how the playing side of the club is run - and none of them were good, in particular the manager's record of choosing which player to sign/release was consistently poor, his tactics poor, and his public pronouncements poor.
I can't help but feel that there is an air of contentment to remain little-old Charlton at the moment who have mediocre footballers playing average football in a Premiership stadium.
My gripe at the moment is I happen to be one of those fans who think Charlton are better than that. We've proved we can compete in the last 20 years, we've shown we can even make it to the top flight and be on the verge of Europe.
Our current plight, not so long after this saddens me as it is not just some of the fans that don't regard Charlton as a serious football club anymore it's investors and big money companies too who not so long ago were queing up with sponsorship deals.
This may answer your question leftbehind, maybe the money from these people on the outside that helped run the club has dried up and is now being replaced by cash generated on sold players which has a knock on effect because it means that there is little left to spend.

What of our 2nd and last parachute payment of £11.5m, will this go to clear up Club arrears or go into building the Team for a shot at promotion?

It's all gossip - there's no football for a while and the media have got nothing to report. According to the media, Hudson was signing for Dowie at QPR. Right, got that spot on didn't they?
The old Curbs way was to say nothing and do nothing, as far as the media were concerned. But he was always working behind the scenes and invariably brought in either his 1st choice or next best.
Maybe Pards has decided that's also the best strategy. Why would he want his plans plastered all over the press - just to alert other clubs to his prospects and get pipped at the post?
