Not sure how I feel about this as I can see another McLeod, Sinclair and Racon about to happen. Alot of you don't think we need another striker where I say we do because I think McLeod and Iwelumo should be put up for sale. Liam Dickenson proved for Stockport in the play off final aswell as all season that you can be 6ft 4" and have the ability to terrorise defences both on the air and on the deck and he leads the line well on his own too. It is my belief that he is miles better than Iwelumo and when the season starts the one thing I am NOT looking forward to is seeing the same old thing with the ball hoofed in the air up towards him. Fleetwood for me signals another loan deal for Dickson somewhere whilst Fleetwood will be no more than a fringe player. That leaves us two strikers who are worthy of the shirt Varney and Gray so we need to buy a striker yes but I would prefer it to be an established one. www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=231771&command=displayContent&sourceNode=231922&contentPK=20746458&folderPk=110027&pNodeId=231937

There are two ways of looking at this I think. It doesn't instill with me with confidence that we have beaten the likes of Chester to sign him www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11684_3629293,00.html But on the other hand good luck to him because the way I see it he will go straight in as our number 3 striker in front of a player who is crocked another who isn't good enough and a 3rd who is still learning and will be loaned out again. Stuart Fleetwood is not the 20 goal a season striker that we so desperately need but I would be quite happy to see him compete for the two forward places alongside Varney, Gray and another incoming established striker which would mean there would be no room in the squad for the others which would hopefully mean that they are on their way.

This is a "left field" punt for a relatively small stake. I'm not sure he is going to fit the bill but, from the clubs perspective, if he does he is going to make the club some decent wedge as well as firing them towards the Premier League.
I am happy with this provided we have some decent striking options available. From my perspective we have two classy looking strikers in Varney and Gray. We have a big lumux in Iwelumo who ain't aweful but would not be first choice, Dickson - raw and untried and McLeod - a lot to prove. If we have the wedge, I'd buy a target man striker with a decent pedigree. I suspect we don't have the dosh and we won't get enough for Iwelumo and Mcleod won't be available for sale until Xmas.

I suppose that sooner or later one of these gambles in signing largely untried and raw strikers may pay off....but speaking for myself, it's getting a bit tiresome and in the meantime we should surely be concentrating on signing a well tried and established player if indeed we need another striker at all. Maybe one or two of the ones we have are earmarked to leave...and Todorov is waiting in the wings don't forget...fingers crossed that all will be well with him.
