all 3 pubs mentioned i used to drink in, wonder what Gordon has in mind apart from another 10 pence on fuel , we are run by a govenment that is complete cock ! does this come from the years of soft soap liberal thinking, ?? johnny is naughty because hes from a single parent family , because hes disadvantaged, ? bollox is it, i grew up on a "rough" council estate , anyone with a knife would have had the shit kicked out of them back then. most of my freinds from back then all have decent jobs and familes....

Older values of looking after your own and "policing" the youngsters yourself has gone completely out of the window over the past 10 years.

This is a problem of having a overly liberal nanny state Govt. The people end up believing that if the Govt are, for example, providing cabs for nights out just because you're a out of work, lesbian black woman with one arm and 5 kids, then why should they (the people) take responsibility for other more serious social issues.

Its rather wrapping your kids up in cotton wool....It might make you feel better to shield them from the World and make decisions for them, but you're really just making a rod for your own back and not preparing them to take responsibility for themselves and their actions in later life.

The problem is that the liberal mindset is so ingrained in people's heads these days that whatever we / Govt. try to do to stop this (such as Stop and Search) you'll have some over-paid, middle class, over-weight, white, middle aged person, still carrying the guilt of the slave trade and therefore feeling they need to "help", banging on about the rights of some obscure minority (be that gender, sexual preference, race etc) and how this will impact on their human-rights.......

IMHO The Tories have it right when they say we need to get back to a style of governing where the people feel less handcuffed and are able to make a difference to their community. Currently we have a culture where decent people are scared to do this in case confronting those local youths ends up with getting your windows put through, a kicking, or you in gaol for giving one of them a clip around the ear, with the Police unable and therefore seemingly unwilling to do anything about them.

If we were all able to put and extra 2% of help into our community, then the sum of all this would benefit the country massively. At the moment it feels like pissing into the wind.....
