I'm surprised it has taken this long to spell out. That, I thought, was implicit in the earlier announcement.
The club's debts need to stay around the current level. (I believe that the message coming out of the takeover discussions was that buyers were worried at the level of future debt in addition to the existing level). The Board believe that we will have a shortfall between revenues generated and costs of £7M this season. Hence they have bunged in money to plug the hole.
A failure to do this would have required the sales of assets, players in the main. The likes of Shelvey, Racon, Bailey, Semedo, and maybe Sam, and now Youga would be sold.
I don't share your anger at Murray, Reams.
