This is about a player in the twilight of his career trying to win a contract at Port Vale.
Really interesting article especially the part about how the Faroe Islands try to save money on sending players to/from Israel for an international match and this same guy ends up paying for a ticket himself to get a shorter route back home instead of the circuitous route they planned for the purpose of saving literally just a few quid! I'd always thought these were paid for out of some fund by FIFA anyhow, but goes to show eh!!
This must be happening up and down the lower divisions e.g. Wade Small perhaps?
