Not digging this fella out. I happened to agree with most of this at the time but I just can't get my head around the fact that this was written just six months ago and here we are having won promotion and spent around 10m this summer already! Around that time a number of us were critical about most aspects of the club and it seemed more likely we would end up in a relegation battle rather than promotion. How wrong we were and the turn round has been nothing short of phenomenal and as I posted on the transfer rumours thread, a big thanks all round to owners and management.

Regardless of me being a fellow American or not, I was very much on the fence when the new owners were revealed.American ownerships have been pretty mediocre overall with European clubs(Bar a few exceptions).
Same thing for Jones being the manager.He had a decent resume but I was not convinced he was what he needed, I thought someone older and more wizened if you will, would have been better.
Very much happy to see my pessimism did not come to fruit.All praise to NJ and the board for getting us back to the second tier and doing the best they can to keep us here.

It's remarkable. I don't know what will happen this season, but there's a level of competence that we haven't seen for years. When was the last window in which there was a clear and coherent plan? I'd love shooting for stars, but I'll gladly take professional competence. ![]() |
