Combination all of which exist in the same season?
This current basket case a football club is the worst I have known for all four of the above.

How many times have we asked the exact same question the last 15 years?

i can't say that I have ever known a poorer Charlton team than the present side. The entire midfield is just full of workhorses. Did they really need Campbell (A) on the back of signing Berry, Docherty and Coventry. Until we get players in the mold of Davis Keillor-Dunn or Joel Randall, then the play we are currently witnessing will not improve.
We have had worse owners and worse managers, than the present incumbents, but as a combination, this is pretty much rock bottom.

All in it for a pay day, they just pick up their wages and no one cares about the club. It’s absolutely shocking and the decision jones made to lean on his old pals has backfired they are all useless. Making docherty captain is another poor decision. We aren’t getting out of this league any time soon. We have no width, no pace and no energy. All this talk of being front footed and pressing is a joke, we do anything but. This is by far the worst team I have seen down the valley and I have seen some awful teams! Docherty, Berry, Campbell, Hylton all need replacing in January.

We have had worse owners and worse managers, than the present incumbents, but as a combination, this is pretty much rock bottom. This…….watched the game last night and it was just bloody dreadful…….At least they tried to play through the lines on the deck against an under strength Bromley but continually gave the ball away due to dreadful passing, you have to wonder what they are being coached all week Jones is going on about injuries hurting us……Well it’s not like we are missing a Brannigan or Stansfield or Keillor- Dunne…..the only decent players that we are missing is Jones and Ramsay, the rest fall into the general mediocrity within this squad…. I heard CM himself saying we had a top 4 budget in August…..Well we off loaded around 15 including loans and brought in the initial 7 before the well seemed to dry up…..If we have a top 4 budget then we must seriously be over paying very average players including Gillesphey, REG, Watson, Edun……I can go on and on…. Players have joined us with extremely good reputations from fans who have watched them week in week out and as soon as they turn out for us it seems they lack the ability to control and pass the football five yards to a team mate……Docherty and Berry are prime example of this…..Godden has done ok scoring 6 goals whilst feeding off scraps but would he have missed that chance on Saturday playing for Coventry I doubt it….. Adhame thrives on decent crosses but the delivery from wide last night was shite…..it was actually him who provided the only two decent bits of creativity last night in 90 minutes… We all waited and waited in the summer for us to spend our top 4 budget on creative players like Keillor- Dunne, Barry etc….who could take us into a top 6 place but instead we brought in another unfit bloody midfield work horse in Allan Campbell and a couple of Jones mates both of whom have been a waste of budget… To be honest we have only really played well against Birmingham and Bolton where we pressed them to death and stopped them playing, the rest of the games we have been pretty bang average… I just don’t see where we go from here in all honesty….If we keep on losing games I can see Jones walking before being pushed as his pride would be seriously dented……and then we will go round and round in circles again with a disjointed squad full of midfield work horses and bang average players with zero creativity in it… Are we cursed as a club….i have had my suspicions……..

From the time we were last relegated from the Championship we have sunk to the lowest standard for managers, owners, players and tactics that I can ever remember and that goes back to the fifties. Where do we go from here, only down I'm afraid. The current owners need to have a complete clear out and start again, investing serious money, but we all know that's not going to happen. So we need new owners, how do we attract those with money who are prepared to invest? Haven't go a bloody clue!

I do wonder if we're no longer able to "sell" the club to potential players to join us. Possibly not just our own status as a club but the rise in the cost of living and rents in London being much higher than other parts of the country being a factor.
Our best 3 players last season were possibly Dobson, Blackett-Taylor and May and we let all of them go with this board in place. We may have improved defensively but we are not as creative as we were, and I wonder also if our coaching team throughout, not just the first team manager, is partly to blame too.
Many of our best creative players in past seasons have been loans, and other clubs have them. (Rak-Sayki obviously comes to mind).

Rak-saki is the only Charlton player that has genuinely excited me watching him play in many seasons……CBT on his game in full flow is another but not to the level of skill as RS……….I think that is quite a sad indictment of our recruitment through recent years…… I genuinely thought this summer the budget would be there for us to bring in exciting creative players…….How wrong was I……….

What is particularly worrying is that we are lumbered with the dross that was brought in and they will clog up the squad, take their share of the budget, and make it nigh on impossible to recruit decent players

When is the next fans forum? There should be some very pointed questions ask about the team, tactics and plan ahead. Do they even see what we see?
I'd love it if those interiewing NJ post match asked questions about the way we play and why we look totally devoid of ideas, even of the most basic kind. Has NJ asked the players to play hoofball or are they doing that because they have zero options and don't want to hold onto it and lose the ball in our half?
We get the same old shit each interview when we ask "what went wrong today?". "Need to get the basics right", "Need to be more front footed", "More aggressive" etc. Copy and paste from the last one.

It's pretty dire at the moment, but yes we've had worse. Russell Slade was one hopeless example. Having to endure Ajose and Novak up front and an aching slow Crofts and Jackson in midfield was awful. Ownership wise we have a host of candidates for worst. Crazy Roland (at the start), Guitar Man, with his sidekick wife firing all and sundry, and of course Mouthall and the fake sheikh. The current owners are nigh on perfect compared to that rabble. Tactics have been dreadful under Jones, but Garner-ball was equally terrible to watch, as was Appleton's set up at the end. Things are bad at the moment, but sadly they have been for quite a while.

It's remarkable that we managed to beat Birmingham by executing high-pressure tactics across all positions. However, in other games, the team has often looked disconnected, lacking confidence, and has faced unusual selection choices by Jones.
I don’t entirely hold Jones accountable for our current situation; there were pre-existing issues and complications following the changes in the senior management team. Generally, I’m someone who believes in giving things a chance, but in this case, I think the right decision would be to bring in a new manager. This would allow someone fresh to assess the squad and he MUST receive the necessary support during the January transfer window.
I have no doubt that Jones has given his best effort, but it feels as though Charlton was never the right fit. Despite a few early wins, the quality of football has been the worst I’ve seen in 44 years, and I don’t see it improving under his approach. While off-the-ball movement is crucial, success ultimately hinges on what a team does with the ball. Unfortunately, I don’t believe Jones’s philosophy aligns with what the club needs. Continuing with "Jones ball" will only erode attendances as we move forward.

I am not so sure at this stage that we can be overly critical of these new American owners who presumably would have been told by the SLT that the budget they provided was a top 4 budget…..as CM was very vocal about this in his August podcast……so you would presume they must be seriously scratching their heads thinking WTF is going on when we languish mid table after losing to the likes of Exeter and Stevenage and struggled to beat a non league outfit in the cup………I would imagine American billionaires don’t tend to be that patient when investing millions into a project where the figures/ performance clearly are not adding up….So it will be very interesting to see the developments especially in the new year if Jones can’t get this side winning games of football……

In League One that’s the equivalent of the SCMP but without any ability to “overspend” via equity injections. It’s a very reasonable bet, therefore, that our spending is limited to sixty percent of turnover and in this context spending includes a measure of net transfer spend. Our wage budget, therefore, is simply a function of our revenues and at current revenues leads to a top four wage bill. You might say it’s as simple or as inflexible as that. If revenues rise so will the wage bill and that’s why Methven is so focused on increasing revenues. I’m not saying this is good or bad. I’m simply saying that I think this is where we are. If the owners don’t get the outcome they want - good results, a challenge for promotion and then, ultimately, promotion - they’ll do one of two things I suspect. They might look to sell. Or they might sack the existing management team and try again. I don’t think they’d give this management team more money to spend. Again, just my guess. It is not at all clear what they’d do with a big windfall gain on a transfer fee. My guess is that they would spend it, but they’d be likely to spread the boost to turnover over a number of seasons. Much depends how big the windfall was obviously.

We need to increase attendances but funnily enough when we try to they are accused of gimmicks or not attracting the right fans. We never fill the Valley outside of the prem and this needs to change.

No manager could possibly be worse than Michael Appleton. As for bad owners Mark Huyler, Roland and The Sheik and Sanguaard were pretty crap. Don't know much about these owners or tactics we employ, but all we are saying is ''Give Jones a chance''. (Taken from the late great John Lennon's Give Peace a chance)!

While discussions around revenues, budget priorities, and the sale of academy players are valid, the core issue remains: the outdated football philosophy is failing to attract the floating Charlton fan base to attend games at the Valley.
The combination of ineffective strategies—such as “Jones ball,” “Garner ball,” and “Adkins ball”—along with poor player scouting and mismanagement of funds by the current manager and his predecessors, has created a downward spiral.
For instance, we had two proven winners and exceptional League 1 players in May and Dobson, both of whom could have been retained and utilized effectively. Instead of building on this foundation with the available summer funds, the leadership opted to dismantle the blueprint, making ill-advised decisions that are now painfully evident in the club’s current state.
This lack of foresight and strategic planning underscores the ongoing issues that need urgent attention if the club is to move forward. Additionally, Jones and his dinosaur football along side the players recruited will never be good enough for top 6.

Historical attendance data doesnt show that attractive football will attract the floating Charlton fan. In our promotion year we had a decent style under Bowyer but look at the attendances. Luton was ok bolstered by a large away following. As I posted before we have the running costs and obvs rent for a stadium that is rarely more than two thirds full even in the championship. That isnt a great investment proposition. Decent football and league position helps but its why I will never criticise any effort made to attract a new generation of fan Sat 30 Mar 2019 Bradford City 11,630 Sat 13 Apr 2019 Luton Town 16,449 Mon 22 Apr 2019 Scunthorpe United 11,973 Sat 4 May 2019 Rochdale 12,705 Fri 17 May 2019 Doncaster Rovers 25,428 Sun 26 May 2019 Sunderland 76,155

Agreed. If you look at the Doncaster play off game the home areas were at full capacity filled with proper, passionate Charlton fans. They are still out there but support has been constantly constrained by poor ownership after poor ownership, a run of inadequate managers and boring football with our best players leaving without being adequately replaced. I am sure when this new ownership came in the majority thought things would change for the better. Jones appeared to be the right manager and after staying up the majority thought we would push on from there, unfortunately, that hasn't happened and we back to having exactly the same concerns as before. At the moment attendances are masked by those having season tickets and being counted as being in the ground when they are elsewhere, so real attendance figures are likely to be more than a 1,000 less than actually shown therefore you could argue that crowds are already diminishing. Fans that have been loyal in the past need to be won back, and that needs to happen before more are lost, unfortunately that won't happen with cheap gimmicks but having a competitive team competing for a top 4 place to match a so called top 4 budget would be a start.
