For what it’s worth, following Chelsea U21’s failure to win at Cambridge tonight, we have now been confirmed as Group winners even though we’ve yet to play our final match against Bromley.
This means we’ll be at home in the second round against a runner up from one of the other seven groups in the southern section of the draw. Should give us a decent chance of progressing. Wembley here we come!! Or not, as the case may be.

The winners of Groups A, B, C (that’s us) and D will each be drawn at home against one of the runners up of Groups E, F, G and H. The good news is that this means we can’t play Birmingham City who were the runners up in Group A.
Our opponents will be Leyton Orient, Northampton, Swindon or Reading.
The following two rounds are also regionalised. Wycombe and Birmingham are the two strongest sides in the southern section. Be nice to avoid them if we progress.

It’s a sad state of affairs that we are not the strongest side in this competition. Let’s hope we get Swindon in the next round as I think we will struggle against reading, the o’s and Northampton.
