The Australian A League is into its 3rd round, and new boys Auckland FC are top of the League standings having scored 3 wins from 3 I am none too familiar with the players as i expect most are from NZ--Alex Paulson, the Kiwi international GK, was poached from Wellington Phoenix, last year
Round 3 saw the inaugural derby .And looks like it will be an annual peach ,Result Auckland 2 Phoenix 0 .The 2 goals were scored by a rare familiar name, to me .Jake Brimmer, who played for Melbourne Victory last year,But came on late from of the bench .A creditable gate of 26,250 will probably be the norm ,and an egg on the face ,of Mark Boznic who queried the value of Phoenix in the A League. To most ,a second team ,as it has evolved to now, was a 'no brainer' Boznic seems to have no sympathy for the soccer family, Dominated by the rugby and cricket gurues,in NZ Just as similarly Australian media have no time for soccer, above their favourites
In Asia , Kevin Muscat, Charlton's friend, and who was mentioned in Millwall's last manager recruitment, has just taken his team as champoins of the Chinese football league. Last year he did the same with his team (Hiroshima i think) in the J League .And along with taking Melbourne Victory as Aussie champoins about 10 years ago This trifector is a first for an Australian. Love him or hate him ,The man hates to lose

I know quite a few ex pat Charlton fans based either in Auckland or all over in NZ and they are all really good lads……They all support the Phoenix as their Kiwi side and I took a bit of mischievous pleasure in giving it the large to them when Auckland beat them in their own back yard over weekend 🤣🤣
