Hi Folks, Tranmere supporter here. i am in the process of putting together an article about Nigel Adkins. I was wondering if any of you guys might be prepared to comment on his time at your club? He started well but his activity in the transfer window hasn’t paid dividends. He seems to talk lots of positivity but it’s starting to grate, a bit like trying to pull at a funeral. Any comments greatly appreciated. I think we’re lumbered with Nigel until our rumoured new owners are in place. Not quite far how low well sink between now and then. Good luck for the rest of the season. Miss our games at your place, always a good afternoon/evening out.

He's clearly a nice guy with a positive look online and an ethos which is the cornerstone of his coaching. I don't remember him being like that for former clubs but had no reason to look into him before he joined us.
Tactically he was as inept as I've seen, we were outclassed/outplayed at every turn under him and really turned out to be a disaster for us. You could argue the players weren't up to the task as most of them are now playing at a lower level, but however you cut it, winning 2 in 13 for a team like Charlton in League One is simply not good enough.

"Good morning everyone, trust you all slept well" still gives me the ick. Overally positive all the time, even when there is nothing to be positive about. Drove me mad.

I thought he did a good job with the squad he inherited and was hopeful for the following season, as we just missed out on the playoffs.
Then Sandgaard, our owner, failed, miserably, to sign the players Adkins wanted and all the promises about us challenging the following season turned out to be a load of rubbish.
I think the manager paid the price for the owner's meddling in the running of the club. He wasn't the only manager that was sacked after failing to win promotion from League One with League Two players.
I liked Adkins but I hated Sandgaard.
Adkins was a little positive but so would I have been if I was in his shoes. Good luck to him. Tranmere, on the other hand, I have a weird dislike of so I'm afraid I can't wish you well Zint.

Another manager who did well taking over mid season showing promise and once again being let down by the owner/s during close season who of course knows better.

The 2020-21 season was when Sandgaard took over after most of the transfer window and we'd had an embargo so we did well to assemble a team at all that could compete, and we were doing well primarily due to Inniss and Famewo in defence but they both got injured, particularly quite a long one for the former, and our form dropped then.
When Adkins came back they both returned although Inniss stopped being such a good player after a second injury and instead was just going in hard and getting booked and sent off a lot.
He was obviously expecting a big budget to build for the 2021-22 season but it didn't come, and I'm sure that had an impact on him with the players we had and he got sacked with us in the bottom 4. Johnnie Jackson, who now manages AFC Wimbledon, came in and had to work with the players we had, and he got us clear of relegation albeit we were still a poor team that finished only 13th that season.
Our finishing positions have been 7th, 13th, 10th and 16th. At this rate we'll finish 13th again then 19th, 16th and get relegated 22nd.
I think Ged Roddy may have been as much to blame in that transfer window as Thomas Sandgaard.
