The club knows that increased revenue is paramount to our growth as a club. We have to appeal to a new fanbase and try different things. Yet some fans complain and complain about every little thing they try
Their only response is to suggest the owners spend more of their own money which isnt sustainable... Really thinking outside the box there lads
With that and Nathan Jones abuse and Gassan abuse I'm so over some of our fanbase
My daughter who is 14 classes herself as a Charlton/Arsenal fan because of me and her Mum. She's been to a few games and finds it boring saying there is lots of moaning from the fans. But she loves the whole youtube thing esp Sidemen and people like Goldbridge this will really interest her. Wake up Charlton fans

If he bring new fans to our club then great. I’m all for that. The big thing with this though is that you need a product to sell. The product in this case would be entertaining football. This year have been quite possibly the dullest / mundane football I’ve seen in some time. So I’m not sure how successful it will be. If we’d done this at the start of last season (before the Appleton collapse) then we at least were exciting and scored goals (and then let more in). Edit: Timing is key with these things

Not my cup of tea but that is probably due to my age. Was hoping for something better but it isn't the first and won't be the last time I have been underwhelmed by our club.

Can’t stand the bloke but he is huge in the world of football Twitter and YouTube.
The club are trying to appeal to a younger fan base and this is certainly an interesting avenue to take. I wonder what else they will do with him? I know he streams himself playing fifa on YouTube, maybe he’ll do a career mode with us?
Can’t say it’s something I like to see, but celebrity endorsements seem to be the direction of travel in the EFL. If you don’t like it, just (try to) ignore it. That’s what I’ll be doing!

This must've been what CM was referring too, something tells me Tom Brady and the Wrexham duo won't be losing any sleep over being upstaged star dust wise.... If it can bring a younger demographic and some of those become fans longer term than it can only be a positive I guess!?,but would've been nice to unviel someone with serious wealth and success throwing their weight behind us.

Clearly the way clubs interact with current and potential fans is evolving rapidly (and this initiative is not aimed at my generation), but my concern here is the extent to which it forms part of a longer-term plan or is just a one-off gimmick which won't be cheap to host? The former requires the type of smart initiatives that Wrexham have mastered....anyone can do the latter.

The last time the Valley was full was for the Sidemens annual charity game with loads of youtubers. I was there with my daughter very young crowd fully representative of todays London. Rightly the club are trying to tap into this market.
Mentioning Wrexham is missing the point here. They have owners who use their celebrity status to gain access to more markets and sponsorship deals. Two different things

I don't like them particularly (I have escorted Reynolds from nhis chauffeur driven car up to his box many limes last season) but they have absolutely smashed it. I never thought I would say it but they will be in the championship within the next two seasons and who knows what will happen then. All I know is that the queue to invest in the club is as long as the one trying to get matchday tickets.

And Birmingham the investors saw a massive fanbase just waiting to turn up in their droves, a new stadium etc etc In lieu of a billionaire willing to selflessly sink his or her money into Charlton the owners need to find diverse ways to achieve what we all want. That may be key to ownership which is also pooling respective talents. Mark Boyan is highly successful in this space I know its tough but we have to be patient, trust the process and recognise the world and football has changed. No one could imagine the 3rd tier of English football would have such money poured into it

Hopefully we will have a squad that we all believe can challenge for the top six in the third division by then.

Just my opinion

Something which reminded me about the meeting with Charlie I went to in Bromley that he wants to try and make Charlton more interesting so we can attract more sponsorship. Maybe Mark Goldbridge is a start but you like to think Gabriel Brener connection with the MLS may convince a few to get involved.

Without Goldbridge this will be our biggest crowd of the season, and that is down to who we are playing and following our win against Birmingham so I am not convinced what his attendance will achieve. What we want is for those extra bums on the seats for this game to return when we face the likes of Crawley and Mansfield at home and that will only be achieved if the players deliver, like they did against, Birmingham. Attractive winning football is what is needed not some sad Man Utd supporter (typically born nowhere near Manchester) who the majority of Charlton fans who either attend or don't have probably never heard of. Whilst I agree gimmicks like this won't be expensive if they fail and may highlight the club to a wider audience I doubt very much if it will have as much effect as a good performance. In fact you could argue that it gives Wrexham as much publicity as it does us, and let's face it they don't need it. Very disappointed if this was the thing Charlie was on about and more so with the whole of the SMT and our multitude of so called investors if this is the best they could jointly come up with.

Very disappointed if this was the thing Charlie was on about and more so with the whole of the SMT and our multitude of so called investors if this is the best they could jointly come up with. From the data released by the club it appears that there were 7-8,000 CAFC fans at the last game who are on our database but who are not season ticket holders. That's to say fans who walk up occasionally this season or perhaps in the past. We'll see soon enough whether the gate vs Peterborough is boosted by some of these fans coming back. Peterborough might not be as glamorous as Wrexham owned by Hollywood stars, but a win the game is just as vital as we seek to stay in touch with the top six. Ultimately all those at the club involved in marketing need to find ways to edge up the home gates. This for the extra cash, the atmosphere, and to convince the owners that we are growing. If we can achieve 15,000+ next time then all good, as that would be a significant increase over last season. Without knowing the detail it's hard to say which strategies are and are not working to increase our gates plus the bumper one last time vs Wrexham. Not being owned and run by Sandgaard obviously helps! Along with still having a chance of making something happen this season.

I wonder if the club are net positive or negative after sponsoring him. I suppose they're hoping for repeat visits from his fans.
