3. Revenues will be higher this season last season. Reports from last night aren’t completely clear on the extent of this, but in a recent podcast Methven said they’ve gone up by £3m. That’s very surprising, but if true it means that potentially the wage bill could increase from circa £6m to £7.8m. There is no way of knowing if that’s what’s happened. It seems unlikely but who knows. Surely this cant be anywhere near true - crowds are about the same and no new big sponsorships have been announced Gates are up by 1,200 on last season which is close to a 10% increase. And there's a small increase in the EFL media deal. Impossible* to know how that £3M increase in revenues is made up, so it's up to Methven and the club to update fans at a time of their choosing. Anybody can keep an eye on average gate and we might speculate how gates will grow should we be successful. One thing is certain: it will take a mixture of increased revenues, owner cash injections and decent squad management over time to return us to mid-table Championship. The first step of that journey is to make our home in the top six in League One, then wait to see how things pan out on the pitch. *Edit: some comments and write ups elsewhere reveal the makeup of projected revenue increases this season: - club shop has come in-house so an additional £600K taking merchandise up to 1.2M - commercial sponsorship and hospitality has always been low at around £2M - they're looking for a 50% increase to £3M So all in all commercial revenue up 65% from £2.7M to £4.1M - the TV deal might add £250-300k? - and gates are already up 10% so perhaps £500K... more if we're consistently successful in the top six (Both gates & TV deal sourced from elsewhere)
