He might not have been down to Sparrows Lane for years but he could always pretend he knows a good player when he seems one. It hasn't stopped him before! 😄

Damn, those are going to be some tough shoes to fill. I was wondering earlier this year when this was likely to happen.
Steve has been such an important figure at the club for so long. You could argue one of the most important. I personally wouldn’t object to the view!
He’s been integral to our club’s success and survival over the years. Our academy has always produced great players which have made the club sustainable and given us chance of success. Losing Steve could have a huge impact on our success rate with the academy. I’m glad he’s remaining as an advisor and `I hope he’s being paid handsomely for the role. He deserves it!

Steve is 69 now and 25 years service.

Steve has been the heart, mind and soul of the Academy. In my dealings with him, I was always struck by his wisdom, enthusiasm and commitment. Young players looked up to him and were always aware of how much he cared about their progress and their future in the game. He was always honest and compassionate with those who didn't make the grade and he did his best to ensure that they had a good education to fall back on. We have been so lucky to have him and it's going to be very difficult to replace him.

Irreplaceable in my view. He will be sorely missed. A thoroughly decent human being. Enjoy your retirement Steve and thanks for all you have done for CAFC and the academy..
