And long may it continue.
Cracking manager but hands up who didn't think he would be?
Too many draws last season admittedly but already this season we are looking a different animal. Has a pre-season with fewer games and intense training instead at a Slovenian training camp ever had more of an impact on a start to a season?
Clearly he has instilled his identity into the squad. When Luton won the League One title at the end of the 2018/19 season, they did so conceding the third-fewest number of goals in the division, so he is aware of how important a resolute defence is and what a difference he has made there over the summer.
From what we have seen so far, our work rate and fitness levels have greatly improved since last season. We have a side now on auto-set for 100 minutes not 90 and he is replicating his blueprint at Luton Town at The Valley.
The solid defense, intense press, and quality attacking play has it's risks but so far so good.

First time that #cafc have won their first three league games in 13 years - last time was Chris Powell title-winning squad.
Nathan Jones: "We're not in a bad place - but nothing is won in August or September."

The solid defense, intense press, and quality attacking play has it's risks but so far so good. Starting with the last January window we're eight months into a complete rebuild of our club. Perhaps we're fortunate to have three wins and three clean sheets so far, but nobody can deny the transformation of our prospects. Definitely a 100 minute side with an intense press, and Definitely a work in progress. More additions possible this week plus we've yet to see Leaburn and Dixon play. But no reason to count any chickens just yet. Nor make adverse comments about players who have left. It will be fascinating to see where we all are after ten games... see what experts and bookies make of it all. And just enjoy for a change! In the full knowledge that crowds should grow as wins accrue. And we are one of a handful of clubs who are both on the right path AND can afford more additions in January. Plus the fact that we have many 19/20 year olds in the Matchday squad... many of which will improve rapidly by the time the run in comes around next February/ March.

As he said in his post match,IF we can introduce a bit more creativity/fluency to combine with our structured resolute defensive base we could be in for a good season, easier said than done obviously but I'm LOVING the work he's doing so far.

This is MILES better from last season.
When Jones came I thought it was a good appointment. He transformed from a poor side into an unbeaten side last season and there was improvement but the team needed investment.
He has got the backing to get what he wants to suit his style and it’s really working wonders at the moment. Last 2-3 seasons I was heavily critical with the way we’ve been defending but I can’t fault the defence so far, it’s been terrific.
Still think we need to be a little more ruthless going forward but other than that, it’s been spot on.
Long may it continue!

Interesting hearing NJ’s interview post game where he says other teams such as Birmingham and Bolton may well have bigger budgets but we want to be the best we possibly can which equates to a great defensive shape and plenty of work being done out of possession How many previous Charlton sides have had a soft underbelly where we have gifted goals away for fun…..Jones would have been tearing his hair out last season watching us in control of games before either our keeper or CB’s made basic mistakes which cost us points.. I think this season we will be hard to play against and hard to score against…..Mannion has hardly got his gloves dirty in the three games and at no stage yesterday did we look in real trouble of conceding…..Our football this season will be attritional, plenty of pressing which we did well for the whole game yesterday and plenty long diagonals to Adhadme, Leaburn and Aneke with the enthisis on winning that second ball further up the field
