I think that black shirts sell well so I’m not surprised that we have one, again, this season.

Also as referees used to wear black no clubs have a predominantly black home shirt so there is not much chance that it would clash.

I suspect that it will be used when we play against teams that wear yellow, or maybe orange (Blackpool).

Ultimately we will wear it just so that we can justify selling it to fans.

We are not allowed to wear the red shirt away from home, apparently, so we need a change from the yellow shirt for when we play Burton.

I quite like the shirt but I don’t like the sword without the proper badge.

It should sell well but I don’t suppose we’ll wear it very often.

Personally I love it.

It will be very marmite but that’s exactly what 3rd kit should be.

You can argue it’s boring, if you could imagine it made by Adidas and therefore slightly tweaked it would be amazing.

Only got 6 months left of this contract and the club have already told Castore they won’t be using them next season .. already talking to companies for next season

You get what you pay for with any kitmaker, if the SMT think a custom kit through adidas/nike would help with their youth local catchment mission - there’s a chance.

Though it likely won’t be as a custom adidas will be expensive.

I'm pretty sure they said they would use a local kit manufacturer once Castore contract was over. This I'd imagine would rule out any of the big brands such as Adidas.

I know they might have said that but I would worry with a small, local, company they will have even more trouble supplying the thousands of shirts, we would need, all arriving before the start of the summer.

With shirts only lasting until May they, really should be available (all of them) in June or July each year.

I'm not sure that a small company would have the capacity to deliver the volumes, we need, on time.

Umbro is making some nice kits. I would not mind giving them a go. They are local, I guess, and have to do better than Castore, which I have been very disappointed in. The best we have had for some time was Hummel. I would sooner that than go with the Adidas or another big brand cookie cutter kit.

My 2019/20 shirt, which was Hummel, was the cheapest bit of tat I’ve ever owned. The sponsor logo came off and the black ‘material’ stuck on the shirt and the other items in the wash and I can’t get if off even now.

I’d never go back to Hummel.
