Following the 2023/24 season, Charlton’s owners, Global Football Partners, conducted a thorough review of the club's management structure and have made a number of changes. Charlton Athletic’s board for the 2024/25 season will consist of James Rodwell, Paul Elliott CBE MBE, Gavin Carter, Charlie Methven and Ed Warrick. As Managing Director, Rodwell will oversee Charlton’s football operations at Sparrows Lane. He will also continue to chair the board. Meanwhile, Elliott has been appointed Vice Chairman of the Board and continues to lead Charlton’s equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives. Methven has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer. In his role, he will be responsible for the off-pitch growth of the football club and will oversee the day-to-day running of the club at The Valley. Warrick continues as Chief Financial Officer while Carter continues as an independent Non-Executive Director. As part of the changes, Andy Scott will step away from board duties to focus on his role as Technical Director in charge of the club’s first-team football departments at the training ground, reporting to Rodwell. Rodwell, Methven and Carter will speak at Thursday evening’s online fan meeting. www.charltonafc.com/news/how-be-part-thursdays-online-fan-meetingRepresentatives from the club have been working with Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust (CAST) and other stakeholders over a period of time with a view to setting up a broader fan engagement strategy. The discussions have included the possibility of an advisory board being setup ahead of the coming season, with strong fan representation, respecting Charlton’s heritage as the original community club. This process has included looking at best practice at other clubs and taking advice and guidance from the Football Supporters’ Association with further updates to be shared in due course.

Methven now CEO. Sounds to me like the same off-pitch role he has been doing currently. I'm sure there will be lots who will be focusing on that change though!

Struggling to see (remember) how this changes things. Elliott wider remit and Scott jettisoned. That correct? Have I missed anything?

Simon Leneghan no longer around?
Andy Scott being pushed further towards the door I think.
This can be seen as a bit of a demotion for him so easier to get rid of when the time comes which hopefully won't be too far away.

I think that Methven was always going to be the CEO eventually. I wonder if it was held off as it was thought that he would be u ñpopular with the fans at the time of the takeover.
I wonder if Scott is being ‘punished’ because it it obvious that the fans don’t like him.
Overall I’m not sure it’s really good or bad news. Ultimately the club has been moving in the right direction since they arrived all be it that there have been some peaks and troughs over the last year.

For me the Methvan and Rodwell roles are a duplication…. An MD to oversea operational work at Sparrows Land and CEO for Valley operations? Doesn’t make sense to me… might look good on paper but they will trip over each other…. Scott’s more vulnerable… again Rodwell and Scott will trip over each other …. The managerial deck chairs have been moved around and given a new coat of paint

Yes there will be some collaboration. You don’t work for a company and not speak/work with your colleagues in other departments.

I can see the point you’ve made re separation but I’m thinking more of cost …do we really need an MD and CEO, one for the training ground and one for the valley… why is the Valley role bigger and needs to be headed up by a CEO…. My thinking is it really cost effective….. I can see this type of structure in a FTSE100 company but CAFC is really a SME and they tend to be more streamlined
