Good to get it finally confirmed. 4 years is quite a long contract for us.
Another solid signing for me. All positive so far!

From the OS:
"Edwards was named in the Scottish Championship Team of the Year last season after an impressive campaign which saw him score four goals and contribute nine assists in 42 appearances. Those appearances were mostly split between left-back and left midfield, and Edwards’ versatility means he can also play as a left-sided centre-half in a back three and as a left wing-back"
Always good to have someone so versatile.

A few comments from the Dunfermline forum: "Courier confirming Edwards deal is done. Good luck to the lad, been a very fine player for us and I look forward to following his career. All the best to him." "He’s been a terrific player and could go on to have a great career. Good luck to him, will follow his progress." "Good luck Josh. Enjoyed watching you ply your trade up and down the North West Stand. Will miss you and your honesty in footballing. Good luck son, in your footballing journey." "I have a funny feeling he may stay another season. But if he goes he will be a big miss without question. He`s been thee guaranteed name on our teamsheet for what feels like forever." "Josh is Mr Consistent. Definitely a player in there. I Hope he goes on to great things (as long as we get decent money for him that is 😂)." dafc.net/forum/read.php?f=1&i=1931188&t=1931188

I've never seen the guy play, so genuine question: why does player who was in the Scottish squad of the season wanna come to L1? Is L1 a step up, is it money or has he been sold the promotion push story? And I don't mean the last one in a negative way.

I'd suggest L1 is a step up in terms of quality, particularly the top teams. It will also most likely be a good step up in wages. From the player's perspective too, if he performs well then I reckon it is better to be in the shop window in L1 for a move up the pyramid than it is in the Scottish Championship. Maybe I am just biased though. I fancy Jones will also factor in to this, as his reputation must be fairly strong - particularly in L1.

The Scottish Championship is League Two/National League level in terms of quality, attendances (average 2,500-ish although Dunfermline's are double that) and wages (Edwards was on £700 a week according to Dunfermline fans). Charlton will be a good step up in all three capacities. Given that he only cost us £90k I wonder if Dunfermline have a sell-on percentage? A good season or two in England will presumably see his value rise a fair amount.

If the lad has confidence in his ability then he will hope to end up in the Championship (either with us or via a transfer) where he could be picked up by a club that gets promoted. The money in the Premier League is outrageous but the top six in the Championship, also, pay over £1m a season to their better players. If things don't work out for him he will be guaranteed what he have agreed to pay him for the next four years, which I imagine is much, much more than the players in the Scottish second division earn. It's a win, win for the player - and hopefully us, too.

Loved how Tracey (I guess that's her name) was feeling him out about his cooking skills, went along with his story to finally ask him how long he let the pasta cook to make sure he wasn't feeding her BS. What is not to like about that video!

He played in a pretty poor team who finished in the bottom half of the table. My real team, Greenock Morton, finished above them in 5th. Hoping that he makes the step up. Standard in Scottish Championship is bottom end of L1/top of L2.

He’s a unit. We are definitely going to be more physical this year!
Edit: Interesting how early we seemed to show interest in him as well. Looks like we’ve been working on transfers at the end of last season. Nice to hear!

Made me laugh when he said something like I didn’t realise how big it is. Talking about The Valley.
A lot of people say that who goes there the first time.

Happy with the signing, but will Small be competing with Edwards for left back or left wing back or will Jones play both down the left?!. If its a case of having 2 good players like that for every position then we are in for some season..
