Hi all, would you complete our one minute survey? The aim is to find out where supporters of your football club live. I will publish the stats, with the towns/cities and countries when we got some responses.
In a way, it's about putting your club on the map, showing its support around the country and beyond. I'm an exile so I've got a personal interest in this.

I've completed it for you but I didn't put my email address in. No disrespect intended but a database of football fans is valuable and I have found my details on crappy mailing lists more often that I'd like.

hi mate, no worries. If anyone is nervous about your email address then don't use it. I use a free email service called Proton Mail for signing-up for things that are one-offs, like this survey. I am not affiliated with them. They seem good. proton.me/mailThere are several reasons for asking for an email address. First, it is so that I can say, hand on heart and to the best of my ability, that every response is real, rather than data I made-up. I think that's important. I can't think of any other way of achieving this than an email address. Also some spam bot email can be identified by the email address. Second, it helps to weed-out people completing the form more than once, which has happened. This helps keep the data accurate. Third, it's the only way I can identify someone who asks for their data to be deleted, which has to be done for GDPR. The fourth reason is that I will email everyone a link to the data when it is published - it's part of the deal for taking part in the survey. The data will be interactive so you can filter supporters by location to see where people live. You can opt-out of that on the survey form and around a third of people have done so. Opting-out also opts you out of any contact by email from me. I will honour that. Sending the link to the results will be the only time your email address will be used, after which your email address will be permanently deleted. In terms of trust, I will PM you my mobile number so you can text or WhatsApp or call me to discuss any of the above. Thanks. |
