Rewind to November 23rd last year and the Carlisle v Charlton fixture that ended 1-1. I had tickets in the directors box that day, not the boardroom but we did have access to the players lounge before, during and after. Anyway myself and my friend turn up and showed into the lounge. We had a beer but the member of staff who served us and was making the tea and offering biscuits was a Carlisle player. They don't employ matchday staff in there before the game, if you are a player and not starting that day, you are brought down to earth with a shift behind the counter so to speak, before going off to get changed. (I'm being serious!) Anyway we got talking to the player who's turn it was that day and he explained how it works and joked 'that's what you get for getting dropped'!! Anyway I remember him as former Leeds United Academy Striker Ryan Edmondson. No doubt sick of the sight of PG Tips he joined Australian outfit Central Coast Mariners in the January window and he has just scored two of their three goals in the 3-1 win over Melbourne Victory in the Grand Play-Off Final and in doing so helped them win the A-League title to complete a treble of trophies this season. His first goal came on 90+1 minutes to take the game to extra-time! Small world!! He came on against us in that game on 70 minutes. www.theguardian.com/football/live/2024/may/25/central-coast-mariners-v-melbourne-victory-a-league-men-grand-final-live-updates-scores-results-start-time-industree-group-stadium

Just imagine if chucks had to serve the teas and coffee. He'd end up getting injured with 90 degree burns and with Charlie kirk, you'd order a drink before kick off and still be waiting for it, come full time
