Good luck to Tyreece. I love this quote, ““He’s someone I look up to (Bukayo Saka) - I try and base my game around him, Ademola Lookman, Jérémy Doku, Jadon Sancho and Vinícius Júnior as well.” If only!! I loved watching Lookman play for us and it’s great that Campbell brackets him with players like Saka (how good is he?), Doku and Vinicius. Let’s hope Campbell can get near those heights!!

No place for sentiment in football especially in this poxy league!

Agreed, I can only assume he's on a very small % of our budget, and NJ might opt for more wing play next year but completely agree, no sentiment going forward.

I’d rather develop our own players than take on premier league/champ loans and better them, losing them a year later. Campbell clearly has the talent. Just needs to improve certain areas of his game like any 20 Year old.

His career has been retarded before it started. If Nathan Jones thinks he can improve him then let him try. Either NJ or his detractors will be eating humble pie and only time will tell which one.

Did well under Holden and horrible spell under Appleton and then picked up again with Nathan Jones. I think he will do well next season and I am glad that he has signed a new contract.. I think he is a Confidence player and would have benefitted from a Pratley sort of figure.

He needs to step up this year.. but I doubt he will as he doesn’t have the mental strength to compete for the ball..basically, he’s weak!

Plus any sale fees can go in the kitty for the January window.

His confidence seemed to hit rock bottom with Appleton, but he looked a different player when NJ gave him an opportunity. There are signs of a real player there if NJ can make him consistent. Probably a squad player or coming off the bench though.

1. Not every player is "up to it" when they start out, and then they become good in time with good coaching. 2. Their salary does not count towards the limit. But if we sell them, we can get a transfer fee. If we don't renew, we can't. 3. We might loan them out to help their further development.
The right kind of coaching will get the best improvements from U21s and other players too, and that is where the club needs to invest the most. I heard a lot of praises about Kieran McKenna of Ipswich improving the players they already had being a key to their back-to-back promotions. Obviously the players need some kind of ability as well as the willingness to listen and put in the hard work, but proper coaching goes a long way.

His performances this season have average at best , very lightweight and like CBT hopeless at defending and supporting the full backs

We had lads 10 years Campbells senior not performing in this league, all while earning 5 or 10 times the amount this lad probably is. I don't know why we are so hard/impatient on our youth players. Karlan Grant was the same. Written off immediately, then before you know it he's playing in the Premier league.

Wow...So many people so quick to judge a kid thrown in at the deep end - he was given fucking Appleton as a coach FFS!! Hardly going to fill you with confidence or give you the support, advice and coaching you need to succeed as a teenager....especially when you can't buy a win! Sure, he isn't a starter yet and no, he isn't one of the 8 yet, but we need a squad to compete and we know we're adding starters soon...
Of course we can't have room for sentiment but equally, as has been pointed out, it not only makes business sense but he has obviously got sufficient quality to evolve and contribute. A loan wouldn't hurt - he's clearly a confidence player and with a manager like NJ to guide him, and some actual leaders and winners coming into the squad soon (hopefully!), he will improve.
We know NJ won't let any player just sack off defensive work, and the kid is only just 20...L1 is hard enough but given all the instability, negativity and all the other shit last season made us suffer, at the very least he deserves our support until we have seen what he can do - in a much improved environment and team.
NJ is no fool...he wants to give TC a chance, perhaps our own fans might trust him on that and be decent enough to do the same! Rant over!

The contradiction that I’ve seen is that many posters will say, let’s play the youth…. Then in the next breath say, they’re complete pony, league 2 is their level or send them on loan….. like you, it’s a very harsh judgement. I wonder how many of us would enjoy working in an environment where vitriolic abuse is seen as good…. I was at the Huddersfield game when we lost 4-0, and Grant got the opening goal….. you could tell from his celebration that revenge is best delivered cold, and I can’t blame him either

Looks like this thread has turned from rumours into the the TC discussion club, maybe there should be a seperate thread where we can discuss the merits of the academy kids….and get this thread back onto actual rumours……..🤔🤔🤔🤔
I personally think it’s great that our support is so supportive of the academy kids, there is no doubt potential in TC, in a couple of games he was outstanding and I thought wow we have the real deal here but there was also quite a few Gillingham away performances which the less said the better…….but I am of the opinion if NJ thinks there is something in there to be coached throughout next season then who am I to argue with him…
My unsentimental take on the whole academy kids thing (apart from a fully fit Leaburn) is yes I would like them developing around the fringes of the first team squad but not be playing to the extent that Anderson and Kanu were playing last season…….IMO if the kids we have get the same game time as last season we will not be challenging for promotion as I don’t think any of them are quite good enough yet……..just my opinion…….…I ask that same boring question would these kids have been part of Bolton, Peterbrough Derby or Portsmouth’s normal match day squads this season…….If the honest answer is no then why would they would good enough to be in our normal match day squad……

Karlan Grant was the same. Written off immediately, then before you know it he's playing in the Premier league. We've always had 8-10 Academy lads in the first team squad, and many fans are impressed / rooting for them over their first ten appearances. It's what happens next that matters, whether it's a loan or staying at The Valley. Can they secure 40-50 appearances before their 21st birthday? And can they secure a slot in the Matchday 18 and/or interest from elsewhere. Time will tell how Leaburn, Kanu, Small, Ness, Anderson and Asiimwe progress. Ideally they assist in our attempts to get back into the top six. And perhaps one or two go for big money which in turn can go straight back into our club. Two things are for certain: we have a top academy AND the fans will turn up once we climb the table. The first step was to improve performances and results with the squad inherited. Then Jones and the rest of the football mgt. have waved goodbye to 13 or 14 players the other week - the second step in this transformation. What comes next re new signings and Academy players is fascinating!

Tyreece was getting dogs abuse. Why the hell did he not take him off? ... Confidence shot to pieces... He will come good, playing in his correct position....

I was amazed at how much he was improved by the simmer of 2018.
