I thought it was the name of a new signing (perhaps from the MLS) but apparently it's some chain chicken shop.
For some reason Charlton have just emailed me (well, hopefully everyone on their database not just me as that would be weird) to tell me all about this new shop and its 15 dipping sauces.
WTF? I presume this is an early example of the club's attempt to expand their commercial links locally. If so I suspect there will be a lot more bollocks like this clogging up our inboxes over the close season...

If it’s income to the club I couldn’t care less. You can unsubscribe from marketing too btw.
On the other hand, it’s a half decent chicken shop - there’s one in Bluewater so happy to hear it coming to Greenwich.

The only option listed (that I can see) is to unsubscribe to all emails from the club. I don't want to do that and I don't mind marketing as long as it's marketing for Charlton Athletic itself. This is the first time I've encountered them essentially sending marketing from a third party and that's a slippery slope. This first one might be something you're interested in, but it's as far from my interests as possible (I don't eat out, haven't eaten chicken/meat since 1982 and don't live within 60 miles of Greenwich). However it's the principle rather than the specific company being advertised that I have a problem with, particularly since it's likely to be the thin end of the wedge. If Charlton fans end up getting 100+ different random third party company marketing emails from the club over the close season (as I suspect we may), many of which by the law of averages will be as irrelevant to you as this chicken place is to me, I feel that you too might start to get annoyed by it!

I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure they have to distinguish club marketing and third party marketing. If the emails bother you I’d recommend contacting the club to enquire. But genuinely it won’t annoy me, I just delete what I don’t want to read and if the club have made £20-50k in the process for using their subscriber list, that’s a positive for me and worth the time it takes me to hit delete.
