Yes mate, Girona have achieved an incredible league position. Hercules are just getting back to where they belong.

I was in Alicante at the end of March and was hoping to catch a game, but the stars didn't align unfortunately.

I still haven't been despite many conversations with similar minded mates.
It's easier to watch Elche, they run buses from my town to the games but who wants to watch them?

Interestingly, a season ticket at Elche last season (La Liga) did not include the games against Real Madrid and Barcelona!

It enables the club to sell cheap season tickets all the while still maximising the revenue from the two biggest games of the season.

I just wonder how many tourists would hoover those tickets up if they werent gauranteed to a season ticket holder. Given most would want to see the big 2 play while on their visit.

Tourists do hoover up these tickets. They do packages etc.
I have never seen an Elche fan, I don't think they are a proper club. Their stadium was built for the World Cup and paid for by the government or La Liga, whoever is responsible for that kind of stuff.
The locals here support the big 2 (Real & Barca) or Hercules.
There are a lot of smaller clubs, every town has a team and it's unbelievable to think that Hercules have been playing these teams with stadiums that make Welling United look like Wembley!. It must be like a dream for the players of these small clubs to play in a stadium like the Estadio Jose Rico Perez (Spain played England there a few years ago)
Hercules really suffered going from being in La Liga looking at Europe to playing in the Third and Fourth Divisions in just three years and I can't find out how it happened. Hercules were/are a big club but the disillusioned locals started following Real Madrid and Barca but NOT Elche which is only a few miles outside Alicante. Nobody follows Elche except people in Elche!
Real Murcia are another big club fairly local to me who have seen better times, they are currently in the second tier.

Might be wrong but dont the smaller clubs in la Liga put a surcharge on the season ticket for when they play Barcelona and and both Madrid clubs…..? I once went to a Real Murcia game way back in the day at their old stadium when John Toshack was managing them…..which was quite an experience, I think I was the only one not smoking dope and came out of the ground on a high…😀 This was before they moved into their new stadium……. Not been to an Elche game but know others that have and they said the stadium was really impressive…👍

Elche do have a nice stadium as do Real Murcia.
Hercules have a more traditional style stadium.

Might numb the pain when we gift our usual last minute equaliser to the opposition👍
