Maybe I'm being unrealistic but given the Jones effect , I thought , being a Bank Holiday too , the Stevenage crowd would be significantly bigger. It seems we have a huge task on to regain decent attendances

If we had won 5 on the Trot and playing like Barcelona I think it would of been a different picture

What was the attendance? It looked quite full to me, compared to other games I've been to in the last year or so.
Just checked 14,251, for a third division game with, virtually, nothing riding on it and with the season we've had is not at all bad in my view.
I'd be delighted if we could manage an average gate of 15,000 next season.

Get a better squad by the end of June then we need too win straight away in August and keep going for the crowds .

Not gonna happen overnight. It’s surprising how easy it is to get out of the habit after being abused for this long.
I know plenty who can’t even muster the will to click on ifollow. People find other things to do, life long fans lifelong st holders.
It will take time for any serious intent to show on the field and as such will take time for fans to filter back.
I mostly do northern aways due to living like a norther monkey but most of my London lot have drifted since RD’s shenanigans st holders since kids even going to Selhurst.
Needs serious results and or at least consistently better football - do that and they will come.

Elf’s was interested in yesterday’s attendance and I told him it was around 11,000, including a max of 1,000 Stevenage.
I see it was given as 14,500 🤥
The East Stand & the West Stand look a sorry sight these days.

The problem with doing that is you get soaked when it rains in the North Lower. It will be interesting to see where the 1,000 standing places are located next season. I believe the SMT considered closing the West Stand, but ruled it out when they remembered that they could fill it with the execs they have appointed.

They've just announced that they will put safe standing in the North Upper. Also I think there are more fans in the North than will fit in the Lower tier.

Start playing attractive football, winning matches, get out of this bloody useless division and play against some quality opposition and the crowds will return.

If closing anywhere it makes sense to shutter the East/Curbs Stand (reducing overall capacity to a decent enough 21,000-ish). There's sod all there in terms of lounges etc and it's full of moaners. Most importantly, that's where the camera/filming gantry is, so you won't really see the empty stand on live streams etc and the sides you do see will seem way busier.

Just being in the top six with a 25% shot of promotion via the play-offs should add a couple of thousand to the gates as well as shifting the narrative away from gloomy nostalgia. At the risk of repeating myself we have a decent manager with a track record AND the January window revealed a capability to recruit decent players. Our home form has been very poor of late. Bring in more talent and win 4/6 home games then watch the gates climb!

My understanding is that there has been an increase next season, and that the cheapest ST if you don’t want to get wet is now £325. At least SE7 Partners have declined to go down the Sandgaard route with match day tickets, dumping piles on the local Londis in Plumstead to be doled out at random, and offering bizarre incentives like a free imitation copy of Sandgaard’s wig with every family ticket bought. It’s quite clear - as others on ITTV have mentioned - that the owners are going to have one shot at this , and next season it is vital that they get it right.

That's around £16 a game even if you miss a few. Buttons compared to buying on the the day, and the real costs of running CAFC per game. And yes, dumping tickets so as to artificially boost numbers is certainly not the way to go. Where we might also agree is that the 2024 summer window is vital. So many players due to leave, and only four or five quality additions required so as to turn us into a really competitive side at this level. Let's see where we are at the end of August 😀

The benchmark for recruitment this summer should be our Wembley promotion winning side in 2019.
Even that side scraped to promotion through a fraught play off v Doncaster Rovers, but in terms of quality it was at a different level to the one we see today.
I’m not sure if a team from only five years ago counts as “gloomy nostalgia” in the words of the perpetual fence sitter on here, but here’s question.
How many of our current starting X1 would get into our Wembley side of 2019 ?
I’d say one - Alfie May for Josh Parker.

Even though he scored on the day and played well against us recently for Exeter Small is definitely an upgrade on Purrington That midfield of Cullen, Beliek and Aribo would be extremely hard to better……. We seemed to stumble across that side that year with the Karlan Grant, Taylor partnership earlier on in the season worth watching on its own Must admit I was never much a Naby fan even though he forged a decent career in the Chamoionship, him getting bullied by Smith for that last minute winner for the other lot in the derby was a particular low point for me when it came to him We don’t have a CB in the same mould as BFG and I have been banging on for months now that we need one to play in the middle of our back three

I prefer not to drive, getting back across the river can be a nightmare, plus the parking. Not everyone lives local anymore. It also means I can have a few pints. This season on a few occasions we had planned to go, but train strikes put me off.
Match day tickets, rail travel and something to eat from Essex, normally spend £150-£200 for the day. So, I’d prefer to watch us at least trying to win.
I’ve done Selhurst games and season tickets driving from Warwickshire every match including midweek for 5 years. Right now, so much going on I need more than crap football to watch every week again.

We are where we are and the relevant question today is: How many quality additions to the squad are required to make us competitive next season? Cast our minds back to the arrival of Bielik and Cullen August 2018 - how many believed we were capable of a top six finish back then, let alone winning the play-off final. On balance it might be argued that we are in the best position for five years to repeat that feat. No time for fence sitting so we'll be buying our season tickets later this month.

11,169 ... Tickets sold inc STs ... In the ground ? I do wonder that the effect of Live TV has. It is a big saving and ease of access. It would be interesting to know Charlton TV Sales for last night. I note Curbs is focusing on crowds and atmosphere. Also, we are home at the same time as Millwall, which would never have happened in the past; we would have had Tuesday , them Wednesday in midweek.
