I still reckon George Dobson will stay. It isn't that easy to replace him, after all, led to believe Terry Taylor was his replacement. That went well.... Yes can be replaced I agree, but how much are we prepared to pay??... There’s an assumption being made by many fans that given the choice George Dobson wants to stay. If I’d signed a three year contract with a new employer, having been offered more money while benefiting from a lower tax rate, I’d be reluctant to welch on the deal. On the one hand, walking away from a contract signed in good faith by both parties is not something I’d do lightly, while on the other the positive reasons for signing haven’t changed. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. If Dobson stays Videoton would be justified in feeling betrayed and very aggrieved. They’ve effectively given Dobson a form of free insurance and will, entirely justifiably, want compensating. Agreed, but we are not privy to the terms of the deal and neither should we be. Who knows, but it is a completely unnecessary situation.

You’re right sevenoaks we are not privy to the deal, but I’d be very confident that Dobson has signed a “complete contract” which, for example, means that had he got injured between signing it and the beginning of next season Videoton would still be liable for his wages, even if he was judged unlikely to be able to play for them next season. That “insurance”, as I put it above, is exactly why he will have signed a so-called “pre contract” rather than simply run his existing contract down and wait for offers in the summer.
