The day we leave the Valley would be the day I walk away from this club for good. Unlike others, I did 7/8 years at Shithurst & Upton Park and it was a horrible, miserable, peripatetic experience. Never, ever again. Don't exactly disagree with that, but there was I think, a certain camaraderie among supporters in those days, more like that of our current wonderful away supporters. But I guess in those days we were all away supporters! If we ever were to leave the Valley I would hope we would be in the Premiership and would be moving to a larger plush stadium that would suit our standing. But I always was a dreamer.

Never, ever again. I really don't see a problem. So many clubs have left famous old grounds for modern stadiums. Providing the new stadium was in Greenwich Borough, had a decent capacity and was owned by the club I can't see any issues at all. Just look at the list of clubs that have moved and you rarely hear them complain. I'd be happy with a stadium like Brighton have got but as I say It MUST be in Greenwich not miles away in Kent. It’s about more than that. The Valley is also about memories, heritage and history. Passion and emotion. The club’s home. The place that gives the club stability, and a sense of belonging. 1984-1992 was a near death experience for the club, and only a geek or a stats basher could claim otherwise. I say that as one of the 850 fans who stood at Selhurst in that time for a “home game” (Simod Cup).

There are about 400 families or so that have put their loved ones ashes in the CAFC memorial garden. A clear demonstration that The Valley has much more meaning than just a place to watch football every other week. For that reason alone a very strong case would be required to propose relocation. A refurbishment yes, relocation no. I have slight concerns we'll get involved with the new sports stadium planned for the M25 at Swanley.
