George Dobson Michael Hector Lucas Ness Terell Thomas Richard Chin Jack Payne Tyreece Campbell Diallang Jaiyesimi Thierry Small and Lewis Ward (Club Option of an additional year on both) Source: twitter.com/CafcFactsThoughts? Who is worth keeping? Who isn't good enough for a promotion push next year (assuming we remain in League 1)? Who would you keep as a squad player (not starting 11)?

Get rid of everybody on that list except for Dobson (depth) and Thierry Small (lifetime contract).
Thomas gave me a few sparks of hope with the last few games, but then swiftly reminded me of why he wasn't starting. He's a decent cover option but isn't the right calibre we need if we're aiming for promotion, same with Hector - maybe as a coach but not as a player. Everyone else on the list I'd quite happily see the back of.

Chin, Payne and Jaiyesimi are out on loan and would be unlikely to get into the first XI now, let alone after the summer window. Small has a one year option and ideally that can be extended. Hector, Ness and Thomas have all played regularly this season and it will be interesting to see if any are retained. It's not just for sentimental reasons that some fans want them back - there's far less risk involved with a known quantity. As for keeper, the consensus appears to be that we need better.

Thierry - Trigger the one year option and also discuss another longer term contract.
The rest are more difficult. I'm confident Nathan will know who he wants.
TC - He's actually got the most assists in the team (since CBT left as he had 6) with 5. He shows real ability at times and uses his pace but he's really disappointed me this year. Not sure if it's a mental thing with him. Does he suit 3-5-2? Probably not. Leaning towards letting go or short term contract with an option and then loan him out.
Ness - Potentially keep as a squad player.
The rest I imagine will be let go. I think we know where Dobson is going. I don't have a big issue with him leaving personally but can't fault his commitment and work rate whilst he has played here. True professional imo.

I'd probably keep one or two of the centre halves. Hector has looked average this season but so has the whole defence and I think with Nathan Jones he could be a real asset. Thomas has also showed what he can do since the new manager came in. However, I don't think we need to keep all three, even if we don't sign another centre half. Thus the question is do we want two older players or one with experience and one to develop. Remember we still have Mitchell on the books.
Tyreece Campbell is a dilemma, for me. He came into toward the end of last season and looked like a good prospect. I still think he is a good prospect but I think that many people have expected more (as in too much) from him this season. He has still only played 52 games for us and a lot of them have been off the bench. I wonder if he would be better served going out on loan for half a season to play regularly. However, I would be happy if he were given a new contract but not all that bothered if he was released.
I don't know enough about Richard Chin, I get the impression that he would only ever get games for us in the crappy cup so I suspect he will be surplus to requirements. As for the rest, I'd release them. I believe that Dobson has signed a pre-contract and I would certainly not pay a fee to keep him and give him a contract that the club wasn't happy to offer for the last six, plus, months. That would give out, entirely, the wrong message. I also think that Coventry is his replacement and in a relegation battle they might both play but if we are going to be challenging at the top of the table we would only play one of them.

Of the above, Small a new long contract, keep Ness, but loan out and see how it goes, the rest should go. We still need to strengthen in the obvious positions and Jones wants a smaller squad, so room must be made for a few quality signings.

Dobson is already off.
Of the others, Small needs a long term deal offered before we lose our. And I'm not prepared to give up on Ness entirely, as the promise he showed initially has to count for something.
The rest need letting go.

"Hector has looked average this season but so has the whole defence and I think with Nathan Jones he could be a real asset" - the whole defence was an accident waiting to happen before NJ took over. He has managed to turn the fortunes of the club around based on much more defensive stability and cutting out much of the 'faffing around at the back'. The fact he has also seemingly helped transform Thomas and T. Watson into producing some half decent performances gives a glimmer of hope that NJ might be able to coax out the Michael Hector we hoped/thought we were signing back in the summer.

Ness will look better in a properly coached side. I like Chin and he can play multiple roles. Small on a 4 year deal is a must. I'd even extend Chuks deal.

Keep Small 100% I'd keep Thomas aswell on another year and keep Campbell but 100% loan him out to league 2 or a lower league one side he needs fair game time to develop he's not good enough for us right now or the system but I think he has good potential so would be worth keeping him. The rest can go for me
