We were also going down under Appleton's 'good footballing side'

Strange comments.
1. We didn't play attractive football with Appleton 2. Yes, we are in a relegation battle and results matter more than attractive football. Duh.
This is up there with some of the most pointless interview comments.
Edit: Very much a deflection tactic to avoid the fact we outplayed them and were comfortable for the win apart from a moment of madness from our goalie.

And he didn't even say 'Thank You' for the point.

And he didn't even say 'Thank You' for the point. That they didn't deserve. 🤣

I think it's obvious that when any team are in a relegation battle then they will change tactics to this style to get out of trouble. It's good management in my eyes, and next season we should see a better style of football as long as we have the players to do it.

Not pretty to watch but at this stage of the season it doesn’t have to be points are more important than entertainment. No point playing like Brazil and getting relegated sometimes players need roughing up😉

Well it’s not surprising he admired the football of NJ’s predecessor … it was tame, it was passive, it gave opponents every chance of 3 points.
It’s been a while since we had a gaffer who hated losing and demanded physicality and commitment from his players.

It’s been a while since we had a gaffer who hated losing and demanded physicality and commitment from his players. We've lacked aggression for so long,I'm LOVING we have regained it now. Controlled, correctly channelled aggression is what we need for this scrap and going forward. NJ doesn't look the type to suffer passengers/half hearted effort I'm sure as fans we feel the same.

I don’t think Appleton had an ounce of testosterone in him (couldn’t care less how many tattoos he’s got) and his team reflected that! It’s mad how far a bit of aggression goes. I hope every opposition manager has a moan up after getting roughed up! Between now and the end of the season that’s how it’s got to be. The quality can come later!
