For me, it’s starting to hurt now.. not replacing CBT is starting to show as a huge error.. the way we need to approach the games against those below us in the next few weeks is to get the ball out wide and take on poorer quality defenders..we now don’t really have that option.. unless we start to win 1-0, the lack of goals will keep us in the mire..

There's been lack of attacking anything for many a year. We have been a dumping ground for shirkers, shite and crocks since Bowyer left.
The 101 season felt like we had many many 1-0 results but we have a team with spirit and fight. Unless NJ is a miracle worker we are gonna have a realistic chance of relegation because we cant create much.
Usually there are 5 or 6 worse than us but cant say that with any conviction or even glibness this season. A quick glance at the table says its gonna be an interesting run in.

352 you don’t play wingers .. the two wing backs played well on Saturday .. got forward very well you say lack of crosses but Watson put over a superb cross which we failed to score from 6 yards .

Think the problem is that yes, Watson put in a good cross but the fact you can call out a singular cross from our wingbacks means we're not creating enough from wide. This then makes us predictable trying to go through the middle and failing that going direct to May and Kanu who struggle to make the ball stick. Having to wait for 60mins to try to get Chuks on the pitch to be able to hold the ball up and/or create something out of nothing is not always going to come off! Small and Ramsay look like they could be good options for the future, but the failure to sign a decent option from the wing was a mistake. Even a seasoned pro with good delivery and a steady head to provide a bit of leadership would've greatly benefited us!!

It is obvious to me that a club does not let go their first team choice players in January, and if they don't want to renew, they remain until the end of the season and leave on a free.
That is the case regardless of what position you are in in the table, as it is likely to be detrimental to the team, given that in January every team in the league is in one position or another regarding their chances.

The only period we have been successful in L1 in the past ten years was when we played a diamond formation under Lee Bowyer.
But to deploy that formation (4-4-2) effectively, you’ve got to have a quality No.10 sitting in behind the forwards.
It’s patently obvious that we don’t have such a player at the moment, and that even if we did, his name isn’t “Bakinson”.

Before December we created a many as 15 chances per game. And these came from CBT down the left as well as through the middle and from set pieces. But not much down the right as we simply didn't replace Rak-Sakyi.
We've changed manager and formation since the new year but currently only create five chances per game. That's poor and needs to double in March. How?
Small and Watson can both deliver a decent cross; stop wasting free kicks and corners - we're in the bottom six for set piece XG for and against; resolve midfield creativity.
Having said all that what do we know about what Nathan Jones can eke out of this squad? Ideally March sees an uptick in chances and goals.

Now that monkey's off our back AND we've reduced those horrible errors at the back let's see how we go against weaker sides... with a fit squad.
