Stan only won 5 England caps.
A huge player in my part of London, for both Brentford & QPR.
I think it was Sir Alf Ramsay who said of Stan “if he could pass a betting shop the same way as he could pass a football , he’d have 100 caps”.

One of the great players of his time. RIP Stan. Watched Bowlesy a lot at Brentford. As a Charlton supporter, what i wouldn't give for a midfield of Terry Hurlock, Chris Kamara and Stan Bowles. We sure as fuck wouldn't be in the mess we are now. A TRUE great. Not just a really good player but an absolutely top drawer player. If he was Brazilian, he'd have got 60-100 caps. |
