If he leaves, he will be marked as one who failed everywhere other than Luton, with Charlton being marked as another failure. If he takes us down but brings us back up again at least he'll have another promotion, and if he gets us up 2 leagues, even better.

Don't understand the question cosidering he has signed a long term contract? I wouldn't look at a hypothetical like this unless we were one of the four favourites for the drop. Think it's far more helpful to look at players and performances since Nathan Jones took over with a fresh pair of eyes. Once that first win arrives we can stop fretting so much and perhaps consider the strengths and weaknesses of our squad. Jones and individual players will obviously make mistakes in the weeks to come, but we should be able to steer clear of the bottom four.

Don't understand the question cosidering he has signed a long term contract? It's only a long term contract if there's no clauses in it. Surely he'd have signed a long term contract but with a clause he has the option to leave should relegation happen

The length of the contract is meaningless, but he did it sign it knowing there was a very good chance we would go down, so I think he will want to be around next season.

I think he'd stay initially, but be off at the first sniff at a club higher up the pyramid.

As he has committed to a long-term contract 4 1/2 years I think, can’t see him going anywhere. would’ve liked to have been a fly on the wall when he was chatting with the owners to agree that🤔

He will stay in not so many words he already said that .. but very interesting Alan Curbishley take on the rest of the season .. basically said relegation would not harm the club it would give it a chance to basically restart and get the foundation in place and continue to build the structure of the club .. he said if Charlton are top 3 in league two the crowds would be bigger then they even get now so no it would not be a disaster at all .. just look at Bolton they had to drop down to be here they are now , with the same manager which is the most important point … and of course Jones knows all about Luton and where they had to restart look at them now .. the club may need that restart ..take a step back to move two forward and there no reason once you get on that run you can’t get a double promotion and go through league one ..
Think he spot on .. we finally have the owners and we have a manager that the fans respond to ..

The key question is not so much what Nathan Jones might think, but what approach the main investors would take. Would they assume the original business case and strategy was still valid, viewing relegation as the result of a perfect storm, learn the lessons and reset OR lose confidence in the project and consider their options? If the former then the odds are that Jones would stay and that an immediate return to League One would follow. The alternative would create huge uncertainty. Let’s hope it’s an entirely academic question.

Curbishley didn’t say that at all 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ One of the most ridiculous & disingenuous posts I have ever seen on ITTV (I am surprised Mundell didn’t pick up on it). Curbs knows better than all of us the consequences of relegation - 1. Far more difficult to attract “elite” players in League Two . A guaranteed further decline in match day attendances & commercial revenue 3. Little need to have a four sided, Premier league stadium holding 27,000. The implications of a drop to Division 4 *for the first time in our history* (cough) would be so catastrophic that even the most delusional and complacent posters should want run a mile from it. Ask yourself again - how do you persuade “elite players” to sign up for an away trip to Barrow in November ‼️ I know folk on BB’s side of the viewpoint including aaronaldo are against cancelling him, but I can’t see how misrepresenting Alan Curbishley is a good thing, unless he just doesn’t understand what he said of course.

Don't understand the question cosidering he has signed a long term contract? I understand the question Reams but what we don’t know are the contractual details of his employment package such as break clauses for both sides. Pardew had a 10 year contract at Toon but as time progressed it became clear that it had annual break clauses so making it a rolling annual deal.

I don't know if Curbishley said any such thing about our current plight, but maybe BB is trying to refer back to our relegation in 1999 when we came back stronger, but that was in spite of the relegation not because of it.
Our relegation turned out ok in the end in that we came back up as champions and stayed 7 years in the top flight, but I can't say it helped us or was a good thing.

I think we should all be very confident we're in safe hands with NJ and the americans by announcing it as a long term contract. They understand every physcilogial detail that's required to change the mentality of the fans and players to turn it around. Announcing a manager coming in on a short term contract would have garunteed relagation. Just by announcing a long term contract alone, is enough to change the mentality of fans and players in an instant.

I didn't hear Curbs say that, but I didn't listen to all of the feed after the final whistle. But in spite of that, we are already in reboot mode and all a relegation would do is set us back a year. People have said this whenever we have gone or are looking to go down - but look at us now. Rarely is a club better for relegation.

Curbs managed us for 8 years in the Premier League - anyone who has spoken to him personally like I have (and I am conscious that I am sounding a bit like Ben Hayes here 🙄 …it was only the once …honest) will testify just how steely & passionate about the club he is. Can bexleyboy provide proof that Curbs said this please .

Having a manager that already knows the requirements of L2 and beyond is probably the exact reason he was hired. Covers all bases. He knows all 4 divisions. NJ will no doubt have also taken this into account

Reading just 9/4
