The Media team at the club have got worse over the years. The most exciting managerial appointment in a number of years and we’ve made no deal about it. Nathan announced without even a photo Charlton related , no interview published straight after appointment and not even early morning behind the scenes. The coverage in general at the club has been shocking for a few seasons now.

We can't have it both ways. Someone within the club has been leaking all sorts of stuff to all sorts of people for months. It has got to the situation where the media team is, virtually, redundant as all the news has been shared on message boards before the club, officially, announce it. The clamour for immediate news has driven these leaks more and more. The club made an announcement on a Sunday. They were not going to get the whole media team (and the new manager) in on a Sunday to take photos and write an article for the website. The alternative would have been to make no announcement until after training today when they have the photos and the article to go with it. By then everyone would know and the club would look stupid. It is clear that the SMT have sanctioned leaks to specific individuals that they believe they can use to control the narrative, but there has been a backlash to it and as you say this is a very big news story, they needed to break it before an anonymous fan behind a keyboard on a message board did.

If it's the media team who are supposed to run the WhatsApp channel (and it probably is) it took them forever to set it up and then they have hardly posted anything on it.
It is true that between the time I gave up trying to do one and yesterday there has been little to cheer about.

Give them a chance for Christ sake .. more important is meeting the players and first training session the rest can wait till later ..

Give them a chance for Christ sake .. more important is meeting the players and first training session the rest can wait till later .. You’d be the ideal person for the CAFC media team Colin. The downside would be you’d have to start going to our games, the positive that you can make a 6-0 defeat sound like a victory for us.

Give them a chance for Christ sake .. more important is meeting the players and first training session the rest can wait till later .. That's the job of Nathan Jones, not the media team.

The Twitter feed on a match day is so threadbare and lacking - they are so bad at their job

I would be quite glad of a bit of radio silence. To have the usual interview come out tonight / tomorrow after his first training session will be a good listen but after I woud prefer they forget about talking to every Tom dick and Harry and get ‘on the grass’ and work out how they are going to get the team back to winning ways. Then i will start to enjoy videos of Alfie getting a Costa on the way to training etc… again

Didn’t Sandgaard axe most of the media team during his reign? I think he outsourced it to an agency who also do it for other clubs from what I remember, hence why the live updates became crap.
Ollie Groome was hounded by ‘fans’ on Twitter, but he was very good at his job. Shame.

Maybe they should get Lewis Ward (our third choice keeper) to man the matchday Twitter feed? Dude has got a degree in Sports Journalism and would be nice to see the game being covered on socials with the insights of a current pro player.
