Not just tonight but for a good few weeks now.
We don't seem to attack in waves in a way that smothers opponents.
Opposing defences clear it and nobody is there to create the next wave. We are so poor at using the ball to create the second phase of play.
Appleton's style of play is far to defence minded.

Appletons style? Or the players we have to execute his plans?

Agree but our main problem for me is our defending. Don’t think we kept many clean sheets so far this season.
This is something I’ll be highlighting tomorrow as I’m going to the Bromley meeting.

Appleton is not the problem IMO.
The player budget is too small, Andy Scott is useless, and the squad is piss poor.
We are guaranteed to finish this season mid table L1 again.
Absolutely nailed on.
Stick your Director of Performance up your arse and sign us some better players !
Talk about putting a roof on without the foundations in place.

We all have different opinions over the state of our club. For me, the telling statistic is just two away wins in the league and cups so far this season and one of those was Cray Valley. That suggests to me that, collectively, this squad is a soft touch away from home. Appleton was not my choice by any stretch, but I feel he should be judged over the next two transfer windows (if he lasts that long!).

Regardless of how well Jones and Hector play we always look likely to concede in every game….. we are so loose all over the park and our wide players are next to useless at tracking and defending

I think Appleton is aware of our defensive frailty both in the back 4 but more importantly in wide areas in midfield and a general lack of steel in the side. This has dictated his tactical style.

I'd like to go back to the days of Hales, Flanagan, Powell, Peacock etc. Don't mind conceding 3 as long as we score 4

Couldn't agree more than these comments. Frail, lightweight, and tactically, easy to plan and play against. I know I keep saying this but even going back a couple of seasons, we have been soft on conceding goals from crosses out wide because our wide players and midfield are not responsive to danger, do not work with the defenders as a unit and even when they do, its a 'token gesture'. This is partly down to the lack of leadership, discipline and don't get me started on the lack of talking on the pitch!

Just give the ball to Alfie. He's nothng special taking players on to be honest. He's a finisher not a runner unless he's beyond the last defender with just the keeper to beat. Outside of the box he hasn't got the beating of defenders pace wise.

I find that we are just too slow in the build-up play. We always seem to have the most Possession in a game but half the time we are just kicking it around ourselves or back-passing and that just drives me nuts. It almost feels like we have no bottle and no real playmakers. Alfie can't get the goals unless we can get the ball in the box. January can't come soon enough Then the new owners need to spend some money and fill some of the holes we have. I don't expect it to happen in one window but they need to make a start with just 1 or 2 players on a permanent and 2 or 3 loan player just as long as the first-team players and make us a better side than some of the shit we have seen in the last few games..
