BTTV Mural. VOTE NOW!

CAST has gone back to the drawing board and worked with a small group of supporters to produce three designs for a mural to celebrate the return of the club to The Valley on December 5th 1992 - thirty one years ago today.

If sufficient funds can be raised to commission the mural it will be on the side wall of the shop - on your right as you enter the car park and opposite Valley Central.

We hope that the mural will enable younger supporters and future generations to fully appreciate the extraordinary achievement of the directors and supporters in bringing the club home. The mural will be accompanied by a plaque which will explain the background and direct people to the museum for the full story.

We want as many fans as possible to express an opinion on which design they prefer and to let us know whether they would be prepared to contribute to the funding of the installation of the successful design.

I've just gone on to do the survey and I don't like any of the three designs so didn't choose one, so didn't complete it as there was no option for 'don't like these three'.

Quite agree, should have a mural of Colin Walsh scoring against Portsmouth on our return to the valley.

Fair enough, but for me this persistent nostalgia helps nobody. Why can’t CAST put the past behind them and look positively towards the future?

Fair enough and I don’t disagree, but when it becomes an obsession it gets in the way of progress in my view, especially when the today is constantly compared unfavourably with the past. 

Just my take in it.

One member of CL states that all boards since 2012 are the same in that they all think that they are smarter than the competition. And that only the SMT up until that point is valid.

In other words nostalgic pessimism is leveraged to invalidate our Wembley triumph from 2019 as well as potential gains this season!

Some of us prefer to watch the team today, listen to what's said by the SMT, especially Scott. Then examine the challenge of the competition and the player market plus how to address at Sparrows Lane. For me that's the only way to deal with the prison cell aka nostalgia.
