Why are the owners not acting quicker here?
They’re going to cause us to lose both our captain and our biggest creative threat at this rate.

They’ve been offered contracts for some time now. Not sure how you can be quicker.
We don’t want them to have us over a barrel. Both are replaceable imo. Maybe not easily and it will cost us more though.

Maybe not easily and it will cost us more though. We want players who want to play for us. And who can be consistent in delivery as well as help the team. If any player is good enough to attract offers from the Championship then they'll go because the money will be far higher. Over the next nine months there's a lot of football to be played and two transfer windows. There's also many, many weeks spent at the training ground where Appleton, the coaching staff and sports science can assist the players in their development. My money would be on one of the two staying whilst the other goes. And we should only pay the going rate. If they don't wish to commit then so be it. In any event Andy Scott needs to look at additional wingers and CDM seeing as we are highly exposed to injury and suspension in these areas.

Doesn’t matter what the club wants to offer if Dobson and CBT thinks they can get better elsewhere that’s upto them. They hold the cards.

All I can see is that both haven’t signed a new contract yet, which is massively worrying whatever the situation.

"They’re going to cause us to lose both our captain and our biggest creative threat at this rate." That's a position flip flop that a politician would be proud of - it's all the owners fault to I've no idea what's going on.

It’s the responsibility of the club (Charlie and co) to be now scouting to replace them with better players whether that involves dosh or not. That’s the way to improve the playing side of the club.
Off the pitch haven’t seen much other than redundancies to an already overstretched staff force.

That's a position flip flop that a politician would be proud of - it's all the owners fault to I've no idea what's going on. Both of these players had extensions in their contracts that the club could, and did, trigger. It is entirely possible that neither of them would still be here if it were not for those extensions. I believe that both of these players would expect to be able to negotiate very good deals elsewhere is they were free transfers, not to mention what their Agents are telling them - on the basis that there will, no doubt, be a six figure sum going to the Agent if the player moves on a free. It is, entirely, possible that no amount of money would convince them to sign new contracts now. We do not look very likely to be promoted this season. Top six is still an outside bet and that is, at best, a one in four chance - against teams that are, probably, better than us, anyway. Signing a new deal could condemn the players to another season in League One and at 26 they can't be hanging around in the third division. They need to move on for their own careers. Both might choose to stay in the summer if we go up and/or if we offer them a huge pay day but it would be irresponsible for either of them to commit to us now. Also, I'm still convinced that Blackett-Taylor can be relied upon to 'perform' in every game and a long contract for him could be a financial disaster for the club. Dobson has been very consistent but there is no guarantee that he would be able to make the step up to the Championship so, again, a long term blow the budget pay rise could have implications with the salary cap management protocol. Sadly the club has to be run as a business moving forward, and that might mean that selling players we all like, to be able to replace them. Opposed to losing them for nothing.

As long as they give us 100% effort while they are with us that's fine and whatever their future's hold I wish them well. All you can ask of players is to give the club that pays their wages total commitment while they are there, but they have to do what's best for their career's in the long run.

If we are looking to sell someone (even if we aren't but a huge bid comes in), we need to have a plan (or 10) for a replacement.

Both have been offered new contracts I understand that Dobson is a two year with additional year don’t know about CBT .
CBT is not championship standard and if we are serious about moving up we need much better and consistent wingers

if I had to pick 1 it would be Dobo who is a consistent play where CBT can be very hot and cold. I would like to keep both but I very much doubt that will happen and if better money comes along I can't blame them for leaving. A footballer's career is very short and they need to make as much as they can't before the lights go out and have to get a normal job.

Opposed to losing them for nothing. 100% We have an outside shot at the top six which might rise to 50:50. In other words half a 1 in 4 chance so 1 in 8 or 12.5%. What matters is the journey... and the ambition to become a top four contender next season. Unless both Andy Scott and the player agents are convinced these two are part of next seasons plans then it simply won't happen. Some of us would like to think there’s been an improvement already but I think that's hard to prove right now. I'd suggest that SE7 Partners have been in control / had influence for c. 50% of the last 52 weeks. Perhaps better for fans, investors and these two players to judge things towards the end of January when Scott and Appleton have had more time to shape things.

Steady balanced view on things,I would love to see them commit now,but as you say if they see genuine quality come in it may help their decision. I hope they BOTH commit and push us on to sneaking in the play offs.
