In today's market and the way the game is going, wing backs are the most sought after players after strikers.
This kid is only 18 and while his distribution needs slightly working on, once the finished article he is going to be worth millions.
Played very well tonight but with Edun on the other side of the park I was surprised that we were so right side orientated.
If he coaches on to being an even better player by the time he is 20 we have to be looking at at least £5m for the lad and that's just a starting figure.

My Wife hates football but watched the game tonight with me. She said of Asiimwe "That lads got a future". She's right lol.

Some players are taking their chances to shine whilst others not so bothered. Appleton has brought a 4-2-3-1 structure to the squad, which has in turn brought stability.
His post match comments talked to younger players work off the ball as well as being good on it. From his debut in August we've all seen Asiimwe make himself available off the ball.
And his link up with Campbell has been good on many occasions. Whether we make the play-offs or not this season, he and certain others will bag 30 appearances. That's 2-3,000 minutes on the pitch that should make him better for next August.
As we learnt with Albie Morgan you can't just back a player because he comes from the Academy. But experience and decent coaching will improve many.
Not saying we're promotion material just yet. But after the January window we might judge how many of the Matchday 18 are of top six calibre. And my guess is that the number will be far higher than 12 months ago.
This jigsaw needs constructing three or four pieces at a time. And the addition of May, Asiimwe, Jones and Edun over summer appears to be moving us in the right direction.

Pretty much how I see it seriouslyred. Not wishing to keep hashing over Kirk, but one of my complaints about the guy is anyone with the ball at their feet has to lok bloody hard to find Kirk, while Asiimwe is always looking to move into space for a pass to open up the defence. Great to see in a youngster, and if he keeps up his current standards, a bright future awaits. Hope we can start moving up the league's to keep these playes at the Valley for a while.

Ideally we grow as a club at a similar pace to the talent. Every summer Scott can look to release those who don't make the grade and ensure extensions for those who will assist us become a top six fixture. Really hoping we can challenge for top four next season which means two points per game. That’s a long way away from the last few seasons.

Until we get two wingers who can track back and defend full backs like Nathan Asiimwe and Edun who want to get forward are a problem because of the gaps they leave behind .. can’t keep expecting centre backs to keep covering that leaves the middle open ..

I agree with the comments made….lm big advocate of identify and develop talent through the academy and supplement with sensible experienced talent….. having seen Wednesdays game it looks like the academy is overflowing with potential…. I see us as still being a selling club, but the conveyor belt looks good…. Whatever we think of previous owners, at least they’ve had the sense not to can the academy

Very much agree with you on this one BB. We need some decent wide players who aren't too focused on attack. More balance required imo.

Tedic not so much even though he tracked back more on the right. CBT doesn't track back but he beats players for fun. His final delivery varies from month to month. Posted before that every manager uses 16 players in the main (plus reserve keeper). Those 16 need to improve with perhaps three or four replaced from Academy or outside every window.

There have been a few games where Campbell doesn't track back much. Similar to CBt and this has left us very exposed. Considering his age and the requirement to impress, I'd have thought Campbell should be flying up and down the line both in attack but also supporting defence.

Tracking back needs to be coached into them. We might check the theory, but surely in a 4-2-3-1 the wingers don't need to track back? Cover their full back but rarely have to work in our half - dunno?! At this level perhaps we just need to be better?!

The combination of Asiimwe and Campbell on the right is powerful. Both have a major future ahead ,
