Well we all saw it coming. That's his cameo for season done. He will inevitably have setbacks and issues in his recovery which means his season is done

Enough is enough. We need to replace him

Terrible luck. Could've done with him this season. Might get a few months out of him for this season still though.
Is his contract up at the end of this year?

He's contracted until Jun 2025 - truly remains the most ridiculous contract offer in living memory

It would be terrible luck if it happened once or twice but not so when it is a regular occurance. As I said on another thread we all know his injury problems and he can really only play 30mins per game so it was incredibly naive for Appleton to be starting him.

Enough is enough. We need to replace him Of course we do but he is not saleable so the only way is to buy him out of his contract, which would be expensive and would financially go against us when getting a replacement in.

At the end of this season, there has to be serious discussions about a mutual termination I'm afraid. Unless he comes back in 2-3 months and plays the rest of the season. Which we all know isn't happening.

At the end of this season, there has to be serious discussions about a mutual termination I'm afraid. Unless he comes back in 2-3 months and plays the rest of the season. Which we all know isn't happening. One could say the same about Kirk and McGrandles! Both are also under contract until June 2025 and we'll see no contribution from them towards the first team efforts. As posted elsewhere, SE7 Partners have been in charge for 20 of the last 52 weeks. That's seven last Jan / Feb plus the last three months. In that time we've seen 75% of the matchday 18 from 12 months ago - replaced by academy players, Hector and a few loans & new signings over the summer. The two windows in 2024 are needed to continue the reshaping of our squad. And if Aneke can play 100+ minutes per month then great. Ideally the Academy players improve with age and experience AND we improve coaching, fitness, scouting and recruitment. In short there are 22 other players aside from Aneke, Kirk and McGrandles.

I’d forgotten about McGrandles. Is he injured? I’d play him alongside Dobbo to provide more support for defence if not. Such a shame Terry Taylor got injured. Would’ve been in the team regularly by now.
I wouldn’t put them in the same boat as Aneke though. Both could be playing regularly for a league one team. In fact, some could even take a gamble in them. There is some value in them, despite what the majority of our fans think. Aneke doesn’t have any value as no one is going to gamble on him with his injury record. He can’t play enough and is just a drain on our wage cap until 2025. We’ve tried everything with him. Given him months to get over injuries and yet he still breaks down within a few games.
