It's quite obvious we have a major problem defending.
Hector and Thomas are very poor, very poor indeed and ideally shouldn't be anywhere near the starting XI
Jones is OK but is prone to the odd mistake so needs an experienced man alongside him (NOT HECTOR) so Ness does not fit the bill at least for the time being, unfortunately.
When Edun is back we might have solved one full/wing back slot but I'm not convinced by T. Watson or Asiimwe (who is clearly still learning his trade).
We need to move quickly in January to buy an experienced centre back and probably 2 full/wing backs but who is out there, who is available?

Patrick Baeur is always on the bench for Preston, I wonder if we should make a cheeky bid for our Wembley hero!

Our defence is a complete mess and I include the goalkeepers in that as neither AMB or Isted are good enough. However, MA was to blame last night. Fraser is not a CMD whereas Watson is. Thomas got roasted all night by Sorenson but he got no help from CBT. It was naive of MA to play an attacking team away from home where players will run at you and be more positive in an attacking way and we were certainly being overrun before they even got near our defence. Lincoln were first to any stray ball and wanted it more than us and whilst we are crying out for a complete overhaul in defence we need a proper captain as good as Dobson is as a player he is no leader.

Shambles again today. Who could we sign in January?

I knew we were screwed as soon as I saw the team sheet yesterday. It says more about MA than it does the players for me. If you keep doing the same thing you will keep getting the same result. What would be so wrong with Watson, Jones, Ness & Chin? Not ideal but couldn’t be any worse surely! MA’s failure to even attempt to address the problem is a worry.

Centre back is a position we have now neglected for some years. It's a position that I feel a team should be built around and we seem to be doing it in the wrong order. If the rest of the team don't have confidence in the center backs they are never going to play as a team and always ship goals.

It's an area that definitely needs sorting out and we need to make some clever signings in January

Was talking to a fellow fan about this: back in 2018/19 we had Sarr and Bauer. Both bought as Championship defenders and both moved back into the Championship at the end of their deals. We need quality and cover. At full back it's open to debate whether Edun, Watson and Asiimwe are good enough for a push. Add some EPL loan talent and all good.

For me this has by far been our main problem since the Bauer, Sarr days. Get the centre backs and right the rest will follow.

Back in the days of Fish, Costa, Fortune we were capable of giving any Premiership side a battering. But when Costa left and Fish had his injury you could say we'd had our chips, as a team we were never the same. It's time this position was addressed long term if the intention is to build for the future.

It would be a good move from current owners if they put January bids in for Santos and Abbey, even if they are likely to go a league to go to a league or two above. An upgrade on Tedic will also say whether SMT are serious about promotion.

Much has to be done in January, as well as strengthening the defence and another striker, there's a fair bit of deadwood to get rid of Kirk, Tedic etc, etc, etc.

I agree, we saw yet again last night that Kirk is a waste but it'll be hard to get rid of him as he's a high earner.
I get the feeling there is a good player there with Tedic, it's just playing him in his right position and getting game time....can we afford to do that?

You could be right, obviously finding a players best position can make all the difference, I think May plays a more effective game at number 10 than he does up front. But as you imply experimenting could be costly for us. I still think if we had a solid defence there is far more chance of everything else falling into place.
